3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 10, 2013 Of the pumpkin ales Iíve tried, this one incorporates the most pumpkin tastes, along with cinnamon and other spices. The head is bright white and medium, and the beer itself is a light amber color. The texture is smooth and creamy. The finish is spicy and sweet, with notes of vanilla and nutmeg.

From 12 oz bottle labeled Kennebunkport Pumpkin Ale, poured into 16 oz tulip glass, about $1.07 for a single bottle at Trader Joeís (didnít realize it was Shipyard Pumpkinhead which Iíve had, but not rated before)
Aroma: pumpkin spice, sweet, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.
Appearance: orange, clear, minimal white head
Taste: heavy sweet
Palate: light body, creamy texture, spice finish
Overall: Whoa. Pumpkin Spice time. Too much spice. Tastes like a pumpkin pie. Very clear beer - looks like a lager, so Iím not sure how much filtering it took to get a wheat beer that clear. Every sip is like a taste of pumpkin pie. Waves and waves of spice overtake anything else in the beer. Drinkable, if you like pumpkin spiced pies. Big nutmeg and cinnamon aroma and taste. Very sweet ale. A near thin/watery body - just a tad above what Iíd consider to be "thin" or "watery" but itís close. Fan of pumpkin/squash beer, but not fan of the spices.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear golden pour with a touch of amber. Normal head volume and lacing, poor retention.
Outstanding rich nose of pumpkin with notes of spice (nutmeg, cinnamon).
Light body with a semi-smooth texture. Above normal carbonation with a touch of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is good with a focus on pumpkin flavor rather than spices. Complexity is a bit lacking, a bit soft on intensity but balance is well done. Think of it as somewhat light version of pumpkin ale. It begins with a mild blend of spice over a subtle sweetness. The middle leads spice, then yields to pumpkin. The finish is a slow fade of weak spice.

Poured at the Galaxy Oktoberfest. Golden light tan pour with small head. Aroma is pumpkin pie with nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin, and confection sugars. The taste is the pumpkin pie spices with very light faux pumpkin flavors. Light body, thin and watery. Medium carb. Seems fake in flavors and just watery.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 ounce bottle, no dating on it that I could find. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a mostly clear dark gold color with about a half inch off-white carbonated head that fizzled away quickly. Pretty much no lacing. The brew smells like pumpkin spices and artificial sugar. It tastes like pumpkin spices (allspice, clove, cinnamon), sugar substitute and a bit of breadiness. Mouthfeel/body is light, itís a bit coating and watery with a good amount of carbonation. Itís not the best or most enjoyable pumpkin ale Iíve had, but with what Iíve heard about Pumpkinhead over the years I was expecting it to be worse. Itís not hard to drink at all, and I wouldnít turn one down if someone gave me a bottle. With that being said, Iím glad I bought just a single!

Bottle. Pours clear rich yellow with small white foamy head, pumpkin aroma, low carbonation, somewhat metallic taste with a hint of spices, abrupt finish. Pretty tasteless and watery.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a deep medium orange in color with a thin white head. Very strong aroma of cinnamon and spice. The taste is a nice mixture of fall spices and pumpkin and very sweet. This is one of the first fall beers that I found that actually has some flavor. Not watery or blah. I would have rated it higher but it is a little too sweet. I donít think I could drink a whole bottle by itself. Great for a small sample or accompanied with food. Very smooth no harshness or bitterness, just too sweeeeeeet!

Grabbed as part of a mix-a-six pack just to try it. 12 oz bottle poured into tulip glass. Two inch white head disappears quickly leaving a thin white ring. No lacing. Beer is a pale golden color. Aroma is pumpkin at first but fades to a spicy cider like aroma. Taste is sweet with a lot of spice especially cinnamon and nutmeg. Really no hints of pumpkin noticeable. Very thin texture. Light bodied beer with light carbonation. Overall this beer is near the bottom of my list of pumpkin ales. Very artificial tasting to me. Was worth a try but unlikely to purchase again.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nicely balanced pumpkin ale without an excessive use of pumpkin spices frequently found in this style of seasonal beers. Light cloves and nutmeg spices with the background roasted pumpkin merging with the light caramel malt backbone.
