2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - NOV 12, 2011Bottle. The pour was a sparkling clear light amber with an average sized (1-2 finger) white fizzy head that quickly dissipated and had almost no lacing to speak of.
The aroma was extremely light of a light bread malt and a doughy yeast with very mild hints of nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon and some brown sugar.
The taste was super lightly sweet with an almost non existent hint of nutmeg and brown sugar at first. Then it became ever so lightly bitter with a hint of cinnamon and a light touch of pumpkin at the finish, with the flavor disappearing almost immediately after the swallow.
Mouthfeel was incredibly light in body and very watery in texture with a fizzy carbonation.
Overall an extremely light beer with the flavor being very subtle with no lingering effect at all. For a Pumpkin Ale the aroma was nice and well balanced, but it lacked slightly in flavor and body.

This is by far my new favorite Fall Season beer. Most Fall beers are dark with multiple spices added and it's difficult to taste the seasonal spices.
This beer is slightly cloudy, slightly darker than a traditional wheat beer, but this beer you can actuallytaste a sweet pumpkin and cinnamon finish. Excellent beer !!!

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear gold with no head. The aroma is cinnamon and spice. Thin mouthfeel with sweet corn malt and spice. Decent.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 VoodooBear (32) - San Juan, PUERTO RICO - MAR 10, 2013
Presentation: 12 oz. brown bottle. No freshness date. Served in a Samuel Adams sensory glass.
Appearance: Thick two finger head that holds fairly well. Very clear, dark yellow color. Lacing is very nice all the way to the bottom.
Smell: Smells very strongly of allspice. Seems to me it’s meant to remind you of pumpkin pie but it’s just too strong.
Taste: The smell carries over into the taste. The allspice is very strong on the palate. There’s a bit of malt in there but that’s about it. It’s very sweet and does not taste like a beer at all.
Mouthfeel: Almost no carbonation. It’s very light and easy to drink. Feels more like a soda that’s gone flat than a beer.
Overall: For a beer called "Pumpkinhead Ale", you’d expect, firstly at least some pumpkin and secondly, an ale. This "beer" is disappointing on both fronts. There’s no pumpkin to be smelled or tasted at all. On the "ale" part, well I’m just not sure where that comes from. It’s more like an allspice soda, I guess. Not the worst beer in the world, but most certainly one of the worst pumpkin ales out there. If you see these on the shelf at your local store, just skip right over it, you’re not missing anything.

Admittedly not one of my favorite styles but this was a good one. Light and with more nutmeg than most. Nice in a 6 ounce serving.

23rd November 2011 Bright clear gold beer. No real head. Light crispy palate. Sweet pumpkin, a little tangy. Trace of orange. Prefectly spiced (ie not too much). Finishes semi dry. To date the best pumpkin beer I’ve had.

Shipyard brewing Pumpkinhead
Nutmeg and pumpkin only. Taste is a sweet bitter gourdy flavour. Light bodied and thin. It looks like all the effort was put into the smashed pumpkin series and this one got left behind.

Decent fall seasonal. Light feel and refreshing. Could be more pumpkin flavor but it’s still good

I’m with Hopscotch on this one. Underated. It is exactly what it wants to be. Nice light spicy pumpkin ale. No pumpkin pie here. Refreshing light pumpkin in aroma and flavor. Cinnamon, nutmeg and malt. The cinnamon is not ground cinnamon flavor. It is cinnamon syrup.....like a Red Hot but not hot. Very tasty.
