3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2012-11-11. Very dark brown-black body with a nice tan head 3+ Aroma of syrupy blueberry, muted sweet malt. Flavour is quite sweet, chocolatey Ovaltine undertones, sweet syrupy malt, light roasty undertones, mild syrupy blueberry flavour seems a bit artificial. Smooth medium to full bodied palate is lightly carbonated a feels a bit on the heavy side, but that may be more of a reflection of the sweetness. Bigger beer than I expected, the overall sweetness and syrupy nature of the blueberry flavour are increasingly heavy as the glass goes on. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto

Interesting brew , it has hints of porter, the obvious fruit influence, but quite a light body

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep brown, actually black with a medium tan head. Aroma is blueberries and deep roasty malts. Taste is the same, but leading to some chocolate covered blueberries for a quick finish. There’s a little bitterness in the finish too, but it doesn’t linger.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on 11/11/11 from a capped 22oz bomber bottle with Ryan. Pours opaque dark brown with an oily purple tint and an average tan head that recedes to a thin, even layer of lace. The nose is fresh, over ripe blueberry with underlying dark chocolate, roasted coffee malt, and the very lightest hint of banana yeast. The flavor is more focused on the roasted bitter coffee and chocolate and the fresh over ripe blueberry in the background. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter dark chocolate, coffee, and blueberry finish.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black, persistent head.
Showy nose, complex and pleasant.
Medium body, moderately assertive flavor, well balanced mouthfeel, good carbonation and alcohol heat, long palate.
Nicely bitter and not dry,
Roast flavors, not obviously fruity but pleasant, all the same.
Interesting combination, good as a porter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown color with a moderate light brown head on there. Nose has some nice blueberry along with toasted caramel notes in there. Taste actually has a nice mix of chocolate and blueberry, and tastes like a treat my wife would like (that I’d steal some of). Decent brew.

Aroma of intense blueberries, taste is blahh, no thank you. Money wasted on this one. Blueberries and chocolate but in a very unsatisfying way. I love blueberries and was looking forward to this. Never again.

22oz bottle -
If blueberries are your thing, this this beer will definitely fill that blueberry craving. Blueberries seem to be that one fruit that harmonizes well with mosts styles that don’t involve hops being a showcased item. I really enjoyed this beer and the blueberry aroma/flavor was about as maxed out as it could be without having a mouthfull of fresh blueberries. The flavor carries with it some light dark chocolate and some roasted malt notes too, but the blueberries dominate. It was actually a nice to mix it up a bit to help give a little depth of flavor. A great fruit beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
~Strong blueberry aroma with roasty malts, coffee, cocoa.
~Pours black with garnet highlights, small brownish head.
~Dark chocolate flavor, with strong roastiness and blueberry throughout. Blueberry is pretty strong but is fairly well balanced.
~Medium bodied with medium CO2, lingering roasty and blueberry finish.
~Never really know what to expect with fruit beers. This one is pleasant, but I proabably wouldnt buy it again. Worth trying once. Hides alcohol extremely well
