Commercial Description:
Smashed Pumpkin is a big-bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich Malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Willamette and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit. To fully enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Smashed Pumpkin pairs well with sharp cheeses, nuts, lamb, hearty stews and desserts like flan or pumpkin pie. Chefs find this an excellent beer to cook with in dishes such as braised short ribs.

Clear orangey amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is sweet and spicy with notes of caramell, nutmeg, pumpkin, bread and minerals. Flavour is sticky sweet and hot alcoholic with spices, bread, pumpking, pie crust and light caramell. Ends on a simple warming note. Medium somewhat sticky body.

Bottle:   Translucent amber, slight copper hue, thin sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Strong pumpkin pie nose, spicy, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a lot of the pumpkin pie in a can aroma.   Pumpkin Pie ale on the tongue.   Yeah, just like the store bought kind of pie.   Not as heavy as the Southern Tier, thankfully.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Pumpkin pie spiced flavors linger.   Does remind me of a toned down Southern Tier Pumking.   Fairly good, more pumpkin than most, but could stand to have a bit bigger body.   At $20 a pop, I would expect more.   Thanks John!

Bottled. Clear orange, no head. Aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. Sweet, full bodied with clean rounded mouthfeel. Dominated by pumpkin and spices. Warming and somewhat caramelly with peculiar, bitterish finish of carrot and pumpkin

Pours a transparent bronze orange with light carbonation and a thin spotty lacing white head. Aroma of nutmeg, toasty caramel and some clove spice with a hint of pumpkin. Body starts with pretty good fullness and holiday spice along with some toasty caramel malty sweetness and pumpkin flavor before a drier spiced slightly warming finish. A decent pumpkin ale.

while aroma is wafting and expected from a pumpkin beer, this guy has some thin flavor. Hardly any spices are noticeable, really just slight pumpkin and a lot of alcohol. Even though it is more candyish, I prefer the regular Shipyard Pumkinhead. Bottle at Stop and Shop next to Titanic in Miami.
