COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smashed Pumpkin is a big-bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich Malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Willamette and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit. To fully enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Smashed Pumpkin pairs well with sharp cheeses, nuts, lamb, hearty stews and desserts like flan or pumpkin pie. Chefs find this an excellent beer to cook with in dishes such as braised short ribs.

9% Bottle, served in a snifter. It’s lighter than the Uinta Punk’n more of a honey brown with a thick foamy off-white head. The aroma is fruity, then the spices kick in - cinnamon & nutmeg. The taste is quite spicy, pleasantly sweet but more like a soda than a beer. Kind of reminds me of something like a Shirley Temple or Cherry Coke kind of vibe. A medium body & you don’t get that 9% at all. Too sweet & candy like for me. Think of this as the Halloween candy of pumpkin beers. Nice enough though.

The standard of pumpkin ales in my opinion. Can’t go wrong with it. Usually the first and last pumpkin ale of the season that I see.

Bottle - Spices, orange, pumpkin and booze. Clear orange gold with a quickly dissipating head. Pumpkin, burnt orange, booze and spices. Tastes more like a liquore with its rich boozy quality.

Balanced taste and aroma. Great body. Perfect beer to be paired with sweet potatoes and grilled salmon. Love it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I'm must admit I am biased with the Shipyard Brewing, specially the Ale Pumpkins they offer. Simply, they are the best. This one is high on alcohol, yet the taste is so smooth. Liquid pumpkin pie! I wish they could produce this one all year round. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It’s dark orange and pours with a smallish white head that dissipates quickly. It has a bright, fruity bouquet of pumpkin and nutmeg. The flavour is probably closer to pumpkin pie -- both filling and crust -- than any of the half-dozen pumpkin beers I’ve imbibed over the past few weeks. The three malts and two hops that go into this would suggest a more complex flavour, but it’s pretty straight-forward in a very good way and has a pleasantly lingering finish. It’s nine-per cent alcohol, but you wouldn’t know it. That’s how good it is.

A nice amber-orange body with a slightly off white had that had good retention and lace. Strong nutmeg upfront with hints of brown sugar pumpkin and some mild all spice. Flavor was nice and sweet, nutmeg waved back and forth between both sweet and spicy flavors. Finish was smooth and the alcohol was well hidde

Real smooth pumpkin ale with hint of the nutmeg that doesn't overwhelm. It really is a delicious autumn brew with a thin texture and wonderful dirty orange color that looks like the turned leaves. Thumbs up! Worth grabbing a few bottles for October and November football games. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mostly clear orange copper color with an off white head with decent lacing. Big bready malt aroma with cinnamon, nutmeg and some clove. Some dark fruit also. Same on taste with some sweetness, an earthy bitter and and underlying vanilla with a hint of alcohol and spiciness. Semi creamy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. Finishes with some bitter and sweetness. Nice pumpkin beer that has good complexity but not highly drinkable.
