COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smashed Pumpkin is a big-bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich Malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Willamette and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit. To fully enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Smashed Pumpkin pairs well with sharp cheeses, nuts, lamb, hearty stews and desserts like flan or pumpkin pie. Chefs find this an excellent beer to cook with in dishes such as braised short ribs.

Probably the best pumpkin ale I’ve had. Rich, complex, interesting. From a 22 ounce bottle into a frosted pint glass, pours orange /copper with a solid head. When cold, its pumpkin flavor is understated, with a hint of spices. As it warms it grows more complex and creamier. Pumpkin and yam flavor and spices are deeper, and this becomes richer and creamier. Aroma matches. I think this would do well in a snifter glass. (10/23/12 @home)

A nice heavier pumpkin ale. Smells of Apple cinnamon, pumpkin and a hint of vanilla. Taste has a very scotch ale backing, is very cinnamon that lasts and overpowers a bit. Had in the bottle.

(tap) hazy orange amber colour with a small brown head; aroma of stewed fruit, jam, then honey; rich ’pumpkin and spice’ flavour with a long, light bitter finish

Pours brilliant clear copper with stark white foamy head that dissipates quickly; pumpkin pie aromas with nutmeg on the nose; crisp sweet somewhat hoppy finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Naama’s place. Thanks zvikar. Clear orange. Aroma of lots of pumpkin, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet flavor with pumpkin, caramel, honey, lots of spices, alcohol and a drier, spicy-bitterish finish. Medium-bodied, a bit sticky.

I’m not the biggest Pumpkin ale fan but they are hard to avoid this time of year. My wife buys them more than me and she got this one. However I don’t think she realized it was a 9% abv. and had to share a bit with me. The aroma has a faint spicy aroma. The flavor is filled with spice, sweetness, and obviously pumpkin flavor. Their is a pleasant gala apple souriness to it. I like this pumpkin ale a lot and am glad it is overly sweet like some pumpkin ales i have had. I find a bit off alcohol heat in the finish which is pleasant with the complex spiciness.

Sweet malt, spicy apple-ish fruity aroma. Sweet, caramel flavor. Interesting flavor from the pumpkin. Bread crust, apple, spicy hops and nutmeg. Light tartness.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a small white head and a little bit of lace. Aroma is spicy, nutmeg, cloves, all spice, pumpkin pie filling, cinnamon, and some caramel malty backbone. Flavour is nutmeg, cinnamon, all spice, light alcohol as it warms, caramel, and mild pumpkin pie filling. Nice balance for a 9 point beer!

Pours a clear orangish Auburn color with a frothy white head. Aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, yam, allspice and sweet malt. Taste is pumpkin, steamed yam, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and a nice natural taste into the finish. Medium high body with a touch of alcohol but overall very smooth for its high abv.
