BigBeer45 (469), Troy, Michigan, USA Jun 3, 2008 Bottle, pours a clear gold with faint orange and amber in there, a white head that disappears quickly to a ring, at first look I thought this was a deep brewed lager or pilsner, this was very clear with a nice gold color in the glass, and it is filtered, there is no sediment in the bottle, aroma of some of typical wheat and a little citrus with fruit, a faint malt sweetness in the background, I thought the aroma was off in a way, wish I could pin it down what it was, some malt flavor with wheat citrus fruit flavor (faint orange), has some crispness to it, and again like the aroma, the flavor has an offness to it, sort of like the recipe does not work well, it might be me, has a medium mouth feel, this is a thirst quencher for a hot Summer day but I found the aroma and taste a bit off, I would not buy again but that’s me, you may like it.
oteyj (321), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Aug 20, 2008 Pours yellowish with no head and lively carbonation. Aroma is citrus, wheat and grain. Flavor is wheaty but not outstanding or complex by any means. Palate is prickly and thin. craftycarl21 (182), South Hero, Vermont, USA Aug 20, 2008 aroma of wheat, not much else. flavor is somewhat astringent with some light hops. high in carbonation. ok beer. jcr (827), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 9, 2008 Draft at the Thirsty Whale. Fairly run-of-the-mill summer ale. Yet, there is something about Shipyward beers that gives them a tartness on first taste. Pour reveals a nice golden body with a small head. Not much to the aroma — some wheat and grass with hints of bread along with some floral hops. The taste is moderately sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Light to medium body with a watery texture. Dry finish. Not a favorite. SSSteve (1509), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2008 clear orange under a small creamy head. buttery, toffee aroma. flavor has notes of toffee, and hops. not really much going on here. not bad. dlovell2 (109), Columbia, Maryland, USA Aug 6, 2008 Gold color. Malt and hops aroma. Slight Malt flavor to start followed by crisp citrusy flavor. Nice ale for a hot summer day.
