XXXX IPA is a non-traditional American IPA with a brilliant copper color and the classic citrus nose of Cascade hops. This beer demonstrates a unique balance of malt-inspired, delicate red grapefruit sweetness and lingering hop dryness. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body to balance the harmony of distinct flavors.Cascade, Warrior,Summit and Glacier hops are used for bittering and Cascade hops are added for dry hopping after fermentation. This hop blend is well balanced with malted wheat, pale ale, crystal, and caramel malts. To full enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This beer pairs well with Cajun dishes, blackened fish, and BBQ. XXXX draws its name from the British brewing convention of using X’s to denote style.

Ottima!!

To me this is the perfect example of a beer that demonstrate the mechanics of craftsmanship, but missing the boat (subjectively) in aesthetics The beer has a fantastic foamy, frothy, thick, long lasting head and lots of lace. A nice clear deep amber color. The aroma starts to suffer from Cascade and flavor picks up on that and pushes it over the edge, giving it almost some putrid qualities. I’m no longer a fan of Cascade hops. Body reflects both aspects of this kind of beer in that in some ways is seems good, yet has characteristics of the Cascade hop. The final word is that overall, this is not a beer for me. I’ve tried to be objective in my score, but I’d never buy or sip this again.

bottle. Only had one, so I can’t beat down hard on this beer, and I realize masking 9% is hard, but this had an overwhelming nose and taste of alcohol. Not a fan

pours a cloudy amber-orange with a very small tan head, and very good lacing. smell is of citrus, hops, light grapefruit, caramel, floral, and some grain in the back. taste is chewy, hops, grain, citrus, a touch of pine is that, caramel, and malt in the back. ends nicely bitter.

Deep IPA. The Abyss of Double IPA. Sink into the resin and waft in its beauty. Garden mouth. Yes floral bouquet of loveliness in the end. Eyes crossed after a few sips. The English yeast has taken a hold and is the boss! Great lacing. Who cares? All DIPA S have great lacing. If you launched a ship in this it would go places...my only concern with this beer is its inability to stand out from the crowd. Pretty generic double. I can tell the difference between a stone and a sam and others. But shipyard is not a standout. It is for the masses who want to get crazy and drink a double. Enders game. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a cloudy copper (which I’m not a fan), with a thin, off-white head. There is a heavy mouthfeel with the warmness of alcohol. Am I crazy to say this has a "porter-like" taste? Otherwise, I’m really missing the hoppiness of this one. With that said, I got it for $2.99/32oz. So, the worst it could be is good.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has oranges and grapefruits. Clear, golden-copper coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweetish, but bitterness dominates. It has some cookie malts, oranges, grapefruits. Bitter finish. Full, big and nice.

Letteralmente l'amaro incarnato in una birra. Profumi erbacei quasi fieno con una nota mielosa. Al palato complessa, corpo esagerato con un amaro da Guinness molto beverina. ---Rated BY Italianbeer85

Not sure if I got an old bottle but it's very low on hops and very heavy on the malt profile. Heavy notes of rock candy. Definitely not one I'd be into again. --- Save the unicorns!
