COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XXXX IPA is a non-traditional American IPA with a brilliant copper color and the classic citrus nose of Cascade hops. This beer demonstrates a unique balance of malt-inspired, delicate red grapefruit sweetness and lingering hop dryness. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body to balance the harmony of distinct flavors.Cascade, Warrior,Summit and Glacier hops are used for bittering and Cascade hops are added for dry hopping after fermentation. This hop blend is well balanced with malted wheat, pale ale, crystal, and caramel malts. To full enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This beer pairs well with Cajun dishes, blackened fish, and BBQ. XXXX draws its name from the British brewing convention of using X’s to denote style. 70 BU,s, 1.092 OG. 22 Plato

625 ml bottle. Pours a very foggy orangeish amber with a nice white head. Smell is very citrusy. Taste is a lot of caramel, biscuits, cereals, and malt. Finish is a very solid amount of citrusy bitterness. Well balanced finish, good cascade kick at the end. The more it goes down, the more bitter it gets. Medium to strong body, sticky, resinous mouthfeel. Average carbonation. Very solid brew.

0,33l bottle @ Harry’s. Pours cloudy amber with a medium head. Aroma is malts with plenty of fruits. Flavor is very soft malts with some fruits and a hoppy finish. Extremely easy double IPA. Very good.

Nice amber pour, with a small head. Hoppy nose with a malty finish. Although it has a high ABV, does not take on the usual characteristics of an imperial IPA. A nice sipping IPA for those with a particular affection for malty beers.

[4849-20121007] Bottle. Light malty toasted grains aroma. Clear, orange amber body with a quick foamy white head. Boozy heavy fruit flavour. Full body. Interesting to sample. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

Dark copper pour with a really nice off white head. Aroma is sweet tropical fruits and caramel. Taste is apricot, pineapple, some pine, and a lot of malt sweetness. Dry finish. Pretty good.

(bottle) clear honey amber, tall amber head; aromas of stewed fruit, citrus; rich balanced flavour; not a very strong imperial IPA but a tasty one nevertheless

bottle. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruit hops. Taste is on the sweeter side, sharp hop finish. Good, but not the best of the style.

Not bad, but it had some odd flavor combinations, such as the tropical jam vs. the English-style, toffee-ish malt flavors. Plus it drifted too close into barleywine territory. Hop aromas were restrained. The twist-off cap (under foil, no less) was really sad, and I’m convinced that it caused the oxidized flavors reminiscent of musty cardboard and damp earth. Maybe one day I’ll get a fresher bottle and rerate (got this one in California).

Part of the Fall 2012 Shipyard feature at the LCBO. The beer pours a hazed reddish-orange with a 1/2" light tan head. Aroma is tropical fruits, lots of citrusy hops, and pine. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour weak grapefruit hops, some sticky caramel notes, as well. A little too sweet to be great, but still pretty good.

It pours copper; the head is golden-beige and frothy. The aroma has notes of: toffee, orange-blossom, pineapple, tropical fruit, and candied-apricot. The taste is medium-heavy sweet that finishes light bitter; there are notes of: pineapple, tropic fruit, candied-apricots, pink-grapefruit, and light alcohol. The palate medium-full bodied, light carbonation, and long finish. Overall, damn that beer is unique; I was sick of IPA’s up until now.
