3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle) Pours copper amber with a pale sand coloured head. The aroma is medium hoppy and medium to heavily malty with a touch of burning alcohol in the background. Tones of orangey and light grapefruity citrus, apricot, white roses, spices, wood, earth and clean caramel alongside a whisper of butterscotch. I know this beer is dried-hoped with Cascade but it reminds me more of EKG. Canned fruits are also notable. The nose is quite English. The flavour is light sweet, medium to heavily bitter and tiny acidic. The hops bring notes of citrus, wood, earth and light flowers. Light sticky caramel and honey-like backbone. The beer finishes dry with a mixture of hard, resiny, numbig herbal and grapefruity bitterness alongside burning alcohol. Hints of canned fruits. The mouthfeel is clean, hard and light numbing with a medium carbonation. There are no direct off-flavours but too much harshness from the alcohol and bitter hops. Medium to full bodied.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
22oz screwtop bottle purchased at McKinnon’s in Salem. Pours a deep crystal-clear amber with a good inch of slowly-dissipating off-white head that clings rather nicely to the side of the glass after it disappears. Aroma is dominated by leafy, minty, floral, citrussy (orange, lemon, grapefruit), with a slight bit of caramel and butterscotch. Citrussy, with a fair bit of caramel and butterscotch to balance it out. Notes of chocolate, mint, and grass also make their presence known as the beer disappears. Medium in body with a moderate but effervescent carbonation. A surprisingly easy drinker considering the abv and complexity. This beer went away far more quickly that I would have liked it to. A slam-dunk for Shipyard, no question, and possibly their best offering to date.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle, #51 for this beer. Poured a very dark burnt orange with a pretty substantial white clinging, very well laceing head. Aroma has lots of piney hoppiness with some slightly burnt caramel maltiness. Flavor is hoppy, but not huge. I detect some butteriness as well, some light caramel malts. Not too bad overall, but something seemed a bit off. (978)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Pours out in a reddish amber colour with a rich white head. Grapefruit and pin-needles in the aroma on a rather solid foundation of caramel. Nearly full-bodied with notes of orange-peels, grapefruit, caramel and nectarines. Lemon-zest, grapefruit and grass in the medium to high bitter aftertaste with touches of caramel and berries. Best offering from Shipyard so far.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber - Poursa hazy orangish amber in color with a small whitish head that clung to the top of the beer. Some small lacing on the glass Aroma is of a small amount of caramel malts and plenty of citrus/grapefruit hops. Flavor is hoppy and above average bitterness. Not as much of the hop flavor as I expected, but the hop bitterness is all there. Alcohol is apparent in the mid-taste, but not overwhelming. Finish is lingering and bitter. It’s good, but for a "signature" style... somewhat disappointing...

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber poured a clear orange with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, light orange and a hint of grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, grapefruit and a hint of pine with a smooth dry lingering moderatly bitter finish. Not enough Hop aroma or flavor in this one.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Apperance: Amberish-golden with a creamy head and lots of lacing.
Aroma: Citric notes, Caramel, Pine and a touch of alcohol.
Flavor: Caramel, Malt, Citric notes, Alcohol, Biscuits, Pine.
Palate: Body is quite thin with a medium carbonation. A very balanced brew where both hops and malt are allowed to play togheter.
Certainly not the best DIPA i’ve had but it’s easily the best beer produced by Shipyard. Very quaffable for such a strong beer and just very likeable. Sweet!

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
shipyard gets a lot of harsh treatment from beer snobs so this offering to more refined drinkers is a hard sell to some but I find this to be a big alcohol beer with still lots of easy drinking appeal. The deep copper color and strong head gives a good appearance. The pine forest smell is typical and carries into the taste along with a slight grapefruit touch. It finishes fairly quickly and does not have an over done bitter flavor so common in the style. Not the best imperial IPA but it was enjoyed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a deep amber with a medium head. Aroma is a mix of hops and malt with a note of alcohol. Flavor follows the aroma except the alcohol taste is significantly stronger. I get notes of pine and resin. Note too bitter but does finish as I would expect. Mouth feel is a bit heavy but not too much so. Overall not bad at all, but I’d hope so since the guy’s signature is on the label.
