3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep amber colour, small thick off-white head, lacing although less than expected. Aroma is maltier than is usual for the style, of course hops is there as well, grapefruit, citrus and pine are the notes that I can find. There is also some strange metallic notes that I usually find in Shipyard’s beers. Flavour is also less hoppy than is usual for a DIPA and reminds more of a well hopped IPA. Luckily the strange metallic notes found in the aroma is not present in the flavour and it is a Decent brew but sadly there is more bittering hop than aromatic which makes it lack complexity. Mouthfeel is average, small crisp bubbles.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from the Binny’s in Plainfield, Illinois: It poured a reddish copper body with a tall off-white head that pasted the glass with lace. The aroma was rife with pine, grapefruit, and zest from the hops, but was somewhat marred by a butterscotch sweetness from the malts that didn’t blend too well. The malts were more caramelly in the flavor, yet still held a touch of butterscotch candies. A hoppy bitterness came to the rescue, also offering tastes of resinous pine, yellow grapefruit rind, Chicklets---scratch that!, and lemon. Finally in the finish, it presented itself as a DIPA with a dry bitterness that lingered for some time. Probably the best of this series.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
[22 oz. bottle from Lou’s Beverage Barn] Pours slightly hazy, slightly reddish amber with a finger or so of off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine, some caramel and vanilla and candy-malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, a touch sticky and just a tad loose. Broken patches and dabs of lacing. Flavor of grapefruit and light pine overlaying a sweet caramel, vanilla and candy malt base. Very light touch of rosewater. Medium-heavy bitterness from fore through finish and aftertaste. ABV well-covered. Nice, fairly elegant and not a harsh tongue-scraper. Really close to as good as any big IPA out there.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
22oz bomber served in a tulip. Firey amber pour with a light haze and a one-finger thick head of lasting beige foam. A solid coat of lace was left around the glass. The aroma was very perfumey and floral. Lots of citrus and sugar-coated grapefruit followed by some caramel and light fusel alcohol. The flavor was sweet and also quite perfumey. A little hot and solvent-like. Moderately bitter. Mainly just sweet caramel and hot fusels. Hard to drink. Full-bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Nice to look at, not so nice to taste.

Sampled in the big bottle. A really really good brew. Comes up with a powerful punch of hops. Crisp clear but this really nice dark golden yellow hue. Really good brew.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Beautiful beer. Not much else. No aroma to speak of. Some pine taste is noted with the malt but for an IIPA this was fairly bland.
