Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Orange pour with a soapy head and some nice lacing. Aroma is soap, pine, and quite bitter. Flavor was pine, astringent, with some butter.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent dark orange colored body. The strong aroma was hoppy and floral. The mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mediumly tingly finish. The nice flavor contained notes of strong hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

Aroma is sappy hops with just a hint of buttery diacetyl. Flavor is pretty hoppy, with a nice balancing maltiness, but the buttery-ness really just kinda throws it off for me.

LCRBM 2009. The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass is copper-brown, modest zippy, creamy head. Tastes strong hoppy, not too dry. Intense grasy-woody, a little bit alcoholic. All in all very good!

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2010 [9/5/09] Bottle sample during LCRBM at Kulminator in Antwerp. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, grains and some hops. Sweetish flavor at first, continues very bitter and hoppy. Medium-bodied.

Aroma a little light some hops some pine.. taste yes different.. a different bitterness nice.... some malt balance. grapefruit kinda expensive for what it is.. good, different would and probably will buy again. probably need to try the barleywine This is good dipa, need more dipas in my life... and this could be one of them. [if a little cheaper]

( 22oz bomber thanks to bu11zeye) Pours clear dark orange with oily bubbles on top. Nose of honey, caramel, and biscuit. Taste alcohol, bitter piney hops but well balanced. The linger isn’t as good as the taste that has more bitterness than preferred for me. Very drinkable.

Clear copper colour. Off-white head. Aroma is wonderful. Lots of hops, flowery, butter and some nuts and cola. Flavor: Malty, nutty, bitter and little buttery. Has a round and smooth palate.

In short: A rich creamy malt bill with relaxed wooden and leafy hops. Interesting nourishing beer (Important: not a American style IIPA).
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed fresh a few weeks after purchase directly at the brewery
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by medium off-white head
In long: Pleasant nose of leafy hops and rich caramel. The star of this IIPA is the malt bill and not the hops. A creamy texture mixing caramel, butterscotch and a bit of toffee. A decent amount of leafy and wooden hops soften the otherwise sweet body but do not bring much bitterness. Some juicy fruit notes increase drinkability. No alcohol presence. This is surprisingly smooth drinking, nothing aggressive here. With the rich malt profile, the high abv and the non-aggressive woody/leafy hops this beer tastes like some kind of cranked up English style barley wine. By far the best Shipyard beer I’ve ever had. After trying with so many different combinations Shipyard was bound to get it right one of these days. I’m a software designer, I earn my life doing just that.
