COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
XXXX IPA is a non-traditional American IPA with a brilliant copper color and the classic citrus nose of Cascade hops. This beer demonstrates a unique balance of malt-inspired, delicate red grapefruit sweetness and lingering hop dryness. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body to balance the harmony of distinct flavors.Cascade, Warrior,Summit and Glacier hops are used for bittering and Cascade hops are added for dry hopping after fermentation. This hop blend is well balanced with malted wheat, pale ale, crystal, and caramel malts. To full enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This beer pairs well with Cajun dishes, blackened fish, and BBQ. XXXX draws its name from the British brewing convention of using X’s to denote style. 70 BU,s, 1.092 OG. 22 Plato

Bottle from city beers, clear orange copper color, thin almost no white head, aroma is buttery caramel aka diacetyl, flavor is buttery caramel and a bitter backbone, no real substantial hop flavor, there are some faint hints at west coast citrus rind hops in the background, I probably got an old bottle and this is more of what I imagine a British twist on the IIPA might taste like, that’s what they’re into on the East Coast right? Probably won;t buy it again but it’s not bad stuff at all if diacetyl doesn’t ruin a beer for you.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a hazy golden burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sticking and then slowly sliding into the beer. The smell had some burnt caramel malts with a subdued bready toffee up front. Eventually, the sweet citrus hops make their way out but it takes a while. The taste was mainly sweet and bready with an ample amount of booze in the flavoring. On the palate, this one sat right at a medium on the body. Sessionable? Not really but I wasn’t expecting it to be due to the fact that this is a DIPA. Overall, decent DIPA as if it would have been done by an English brewer. Though I don’t think this is the best DIPA on the market, I look at this one as if there’s such a style as an English DIPA.

From bottle. Muted malt aroma with a bit of hop notes. Dull nose. Coppery amber clear with creamy lacing beige head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Sweet malt flavor, with caramel and biscuit. Mild alcohol. Medium hop flavor but nothing that pops out. Bitter finish with sweet nutty lingering after.

Pours a finger of head on a clear dark straw colored body. The aroma is floral, barnyardish and ripe grapefruit and apricot. The taste heavy on the malt but the sweetness is contained by the lemon and pine bitterness. Good balance. The texture is thick with moderate carbonation. It’s a big malty IPA.

Birra fantastica, esageratamente luppolata per essere una double ipa ma gioca decisamente a suo vantaggio, sviluppando un equilibrio perfetto tra l’amaro, le note agrumate e lo sfondo maltato più dolce. Ottima!!

To me this is the perfect example of a beer that demonstrate the mechanics of craftsmanship, but missing the boat (subjectively) in aesthetics The beer has a fantastic foamy, frothy, thick, long lasting head and lots of lace. A nice clear deep amber color. The aroma starts to suffer from Cascade and flavor picks up on that and pushes it over the edge, giving it almost some putrid qualities. I’m no longer a fan of Cascade hops. Body reflects both aspects of this kind of beer in that in some ways is seems good, yet has characteristics of the Cascade hop. The final word is that overall, this is not a beer for me. I’ve tried to be objective in my score, but I’d never buy or sip this again.

bottle. Only had one, so I can’t beat down hard on this beer, and I realize masking 9% is hard, but this had an overwhelming nose and taste of alcohol. Not a fan
