3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught from Bungalow. Straw colour, small wite head with some lacing. Zesty banana aroma, lots of spice comes through in the flavour. Pepperiess and sweetness balance out well. Very light.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330 ml bottle marketed as “Konishi Snow Blanche” bought at Sogo Fresh Mart in Causeway Bay.
Cloudy hazy golden honey colour with some yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and white foam which last for 1 minute; Very good lacing and notable small carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of light malt, with strong coriander, orange peel, yeast, grapefruit, light floral, very light cloves and spices; Light sweet and tart taste of light malt, with coriander, orange peels, light orange flesh, bread, yeast, very light cinnamon and spices, and faint lemon; Light body, watery and quite crisp palate; Mouth feel is very strong coriander, decent orange peel, fairly light tartness in a thin slick body, with a somewhat dull feeling, not all that bright and refreshing compares with other good Witbiers. Decent enough yeast and bready taste, spice tastes is a light touch. So-so… Hoppiness is in fairly light grapefruit nose and taste, no bitterness, just coriander and bready low tart finish; Fairly dry aftertaste, very easy and crisp to mouth.
Comments: This one got lots of coriander among Belgian Whites, and pretty damn solid in nose and appearance. Yet it is not lively enough to make a lasting impression. In short it lacks a spark, like good fresh citrus fruitiness, and a bit more sweetness will certainly help. Okay-ish middle of the pack.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle from a liquor shop in Roppongi. It pours a cloudy gold with a nice spicy white beer aroma. The taste is a very solid witbier. ---March 2014---- On tap, at Shirayuki taproom/brewery. Part of the 780 yen tasting set, a great deal! Light cloudy gold with a thick foamy head. Light spice & citrus aroma, I think the Hosokawa aroma is stronger. Light soft carbonation give it a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is weizen yeast spice notes with a kind of sweet soapy bubblegum quality. Tasty but I think I prefer the lighter Hosokawa.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Banana, herbs aroma. Orange juice, bread, lemon zest, peppery finish. Uninspired Belgian white copy, a bit too mild overall.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Yamaya. Perhaps a new version? (as "Konishi Snow Blanche"). Smooth, estery, and flowery aroma. Light glowing hazy pear color, thin filmy head. Tangy sweetness and orange zest / some coriander in mid / finishes a bit dry and astringent. Thin body. Not bad, but certainly not among the better witbiers (not even among those made in Japan). Light and refreshing stuff.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Matsuya, Ginza. Hazy yellow with big fluffy white head. Nose is yeasty, lemon, sherberty delicate nose. Taste is yeasty lemon citrous. A bit frilly like most Jap weizens and lacking spice, body and hop kick.
