On tap at the 2008 Hiroshima Beer Festa. Not as impressive as some of the other microbrew Witbier available in Japan.

Keyaki fall 2016. Wheat-forward nose with nutmeg, star anise and cinnamon coming on strong. Some light citrus as it warms. Clean and fairly easy drinking, more spice. Lingering citrus and spice and bit of honey. OK.

Tap at Yellow Ape Craft 2nd Anniversary. Nice fresh citrusy and banana nose. Hazy amber/honey color. Initial is fine, but it dies out in mid palate. Doesn’t go full banana. Watery. Okay. Mild fruit. Nice nose. Belgian character is not really present.

Tap at Keyaki. Cloudy golden amber colour. Aroma is light lemon, bit of cream, coriander, bananas. Taste is interesting. Earl grey tea, bananas, vanilla ice cream, slightly herbal. Belgian German white mix? Maybe bit sweet but better than I thought it would be.

From can. Pours very pale yellow with a huge white head. Lemony with hints of spices. A bit sweeter and spicier in the mouth, even somewhat medicinal. Not worth writing home about.

Hazy yellow body and thin white head. Very fruity nose; apricot, apple, sweets, some clove as well. Taste was unusual I thought, apple and sour berries, quite spicy. Palate was light but the sour notes didnt make it overly refreshing. This was too heavy on the fruit and spice and too short on the yeasty grains for my liking.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2009 Draught at the Brewery. A spicy, fruity wit. A bit too much spice for me, but basically well-made. Easy to drink, with good balance and a nice wheat flavor.

A good version of a witbier, although doesn’t truly capture the style. gets extra points for being a lot cheaper than hoegaarden though

Cloudy golden color. Soapy nose with oranges. Smooth mouth with the orange character shining through. Smooth soapy, chalky, excellent finish.

Tasted @ GJBF, Yokohama: Cloudy yellowish gold cold with a bright white head. Grassy hops, light coriander and some faint citrusy notes. Malty body with a mellow wheat note in the tail. Decent enough.
