Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Draught > Skippers Smokehouse > Tampa. Hmmm, really not to bad. Refreshing and little orangeish wheaty flavor. Actually ordered a couple. Good fit for sunny FLA. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 2, 2008 Been hanging out a lot lately with a couple of macro drinking friends, so here we are. I did introduce one of my friends, who’s former favorite beer was Shock Top, to Hoegaarden, which he likes better. That’s a win. Unfortunately the all you can eat chicken wing place didn’t see fit to have Hoegaarden on tap, so we got this instead. It’s not great by any means, but it’s better than Blue Moon by a country mile, so that’s something. Smells like any other beer of this style, thankfully I didn’t pick up any off aromas or flavors. Pretty crisp and clean for what it was. nchomefinder (29), North Carolina, USA Jul 2, 2008 25oz glass at local sports bar, they had it on special for the night. good appearance, smell and taste. i thought it was a very good attempt by ab, very comperable to blue moon, slightly lighter and more orange flavour. i will try this one again. subcell (95), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 30, 2008 This beer has no flavor. Really, it barely has an aroma. Although I hate Blue Moon, it at least has a flavor. I recommend passing this up. Mutualaid (136), Texas, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours cloudy and pale with a fizzy, white head. Aromas of pale malts and possibly rice syrup(?) with very faint hints of citrus and white wine. Familiar wit flavor and sourness but really only a shadow of the greats; hops are not evident. Body is a bit too weak and the finish is not pleasant. Not a terrible beer but there are far, far better wits out there. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pour is hazy straw, with a fizzy soda head that diminishes immediately, leaving no lace or cap. Maybe some citrus and wheat to the nose, intermingling with some corn macro possibly. The flavor tries for wheat, but doesn’t do the best job. There is also some citrus mid-palate that leads to an artificial candy essence. The finish meets somewhere in the middle of the flavor contingencies, again with a touch of A-B corn. Carbonation levels are high, almost too much, lending the mouthfeel to be hollow and completely unsubstantial. Definitely on the upper end of the A-Busch offerings so far, but still lacking FAR too much for a brewer with so many resources that seems to care so little about the process of true craft brewing. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA Jun 28, 2008 Not in Blue Moon’s legue which to me tastes like a real wit. I did not know this was an Anheuser-Busch product when I drank this but something was a little off. It’s a good facsimile of a wit. The coloring is good, but the citrus flavor is already added so for those who like to add a fresh lemon or orange this will not please. Why because it tastes somwhat artifical. Just not fresh in mouthfeel. It doesn’t have a bad aftertaste, and while certainly a second string beer it is almost good. It just doesn’t quite cut it, but it’s hardly a drain pour. I really don’t know how to rate this because I like the Wit style so much that it pushed my feelings about it higher then would be othewise. Let’s just say that is worthy of a drink but be aware that it’s a copy and not a real representation of the style. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Jun 27, 2008 Pretty nasty stuff. I would like to try it out of a bottle, since the beer’s deficiency may be due to dirty tap lines. If so, a re-rate will be forthcoming. But on to the beer at hand. An aroma of dirty dish water, soapy with a funny sewer smell. Very light fruity notes in the flavor. Nearly indistinguishable that it’s anything specific. Just really not much to this beer. I had to refrain from breathing in the aroma while drinking this beer. Never a good sign. Bad beer.
