tjw (10), , Massachusetts, USA Jun 13, 2008 Had this on tap. Didn’t realize it was AB until later. Fruity flavor and smell. Thought I caught a whiff of corriander also. Not bad. Better than my other options on tap (Bud, etc.) GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2008 I know its an AB product but its not that bad. Bottle, Cloudy yellow, weak aroma. Taste was decent, spices, hint lemon. Light in texture. No hoegaarden but a decent beer for the summer. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Jun 9, 2008 Huge creamy head gold color body with some lacing.
Aroma is strong, orange.
Taste is citrus fruits some lemom, lime, and mostly orange. Tastes a bit like a wheat beer with an orange slice floating in it. A tasty brew but certainly different. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jun 8, 2008 On tap and served in a short weizen glass (no orange). This beer poured a moderately hazy golden orange hue with a short-lived head of white fizz. No lace. The aroma of the beer was made up of light wheat and citrus. The flavor was mild with a bit of sweet, artificial Sunkist pop flavor. The mouthfeel was light-bodied with aggressive carbonation. Not terrible. wmubronco1992 (176), Coldwater, Michigan, USA Jun 7, 2008 Bottle - Light Honey color. Small white head. No lacing. Not a bad brew. It has a hint of citrus flavor. Not nearly up to Oberon/Whitson status or even Bluemoon for that matter, but a nice try for Anheuser Busch. Its very drinkable, but hard to choose this with so many quality Belgian wheats available. Bet its decent on tap scrizzz (1247), kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 7, 2008 filmy, chemical nose, kinda like orange air freshener covering up cigarette smoke. nice haze, good head. orange notes directly up front, but still neither fresh nor bright. has a bit of a chemical burn to the finish, beyond metallic. i’m sure this is great for people who don’t like beer and are tired of wine coolers. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Jun 6, 2008 Updated: Jun 11, 2008Re-eally? AB?
You got me good, I actually enjoyed this.
I had it on tap so I didnt even get the sweet logo, those marketing guys.
Light & fluffy, easy drinking, cool, refreshing. All kinds of cheesy markeitng words actually work for this one as its simple and easy, but yet still tastey. GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 5, 2008 A nice and light beer for a nice and light day, though a bit early for spring drinking. AB’s Spring Heat Spiced Wheat (since re-named) has a lovely and perfectly painted wheat yellow body, slightly clear, with a thin and soft white head, fuzzy like an infant rabbit’s fur. The smell is a real cascade of butter, melted, with plenty of dairy fats. The good stuff. Is this the work of...diacetyl? Disulfide? I’ve heard it or something like it can be undesirable in brewing, but I love it. The aroma also contains fresh grass, water melon and a squeeze of lemon juice. Palate texure is initially soft, but gathers itself into a bubbled frenzy before the flavor is finished. Speaking of flavor, it hits a dry and wheaty note at first, but makes a more dulcet sound later with a generous drizzling butter and lemon. Suddenly, somewhere between the mid-flavor and swallow, the aftertaste strikes with a terrible touch of Clorox - cleansing, slightly burning, but above all very chemical-esque. As I write in my notes, "Yearghh!" I also have second thoughts about that buttery flavor. It’s good in heavy doses, but the Spring Heat may take it a step past "heavy" and into "immense" or "flood."
