Been hanging out a lot lately with a couple of macro drinking friends, so here we are. I did introduce one of my friends, who’s former favorite beer was Shock Top, to Hoegaarden, which he likes better. That’s a win. Unfortunately the all you can eat chicken wing place didn’t see fit to have Hoegaarden on tap, so we got this instead. It’s not great by any means, but it’s better than Blue Moon by a country mile, so that’s something. Smells like any other beer of this style, thankfully I didn’t pick up any off aromas or flavors. Pretty crisp and clean for what it was.

Bottle in Vegas. Pretty terrible, definitely a step down from Blue Moon for the faux-craft free bar options in the casino.

0.5 tap. Slightly hazy, gold color and a small, white head. Delicate aroma of citruses and pretty much nothing else. Taste is also kinda fruity, simplistic. Light body, slick texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is more grainy than tje rest. Overall a mediocre beer.

Like many of the poorer versions of the style, this tastes like a giant packet of ground coriander has been poured in during the brewing process. It’s the dominant taste, and also contributes to the mouthfeel which is otherwise pretty watery. Reasonably high carb. Straw coloured, decent white head. I think I’ve concluded that only the really good wit beers stand out - the rest are very average.

On tap at Red Lobster. Pours a cloudy yellow orange with a large white head, some lacing. Aroma and Taste is of wheat, hay, some light citrus and orange notes. Palate is a medium body, crisp mouth feel, good carbonation. Finishes with wheat, pale malt, and light citrus orange flavor, light dry bitterness on the end. Overall a good brew from Shock top for what it is, a good refreshing summer brew.
