muzzlehatch (4420) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - FEB 29, 2008
12 ounce bottle from City Market in Burlington, VT (February 2008), served at cellar temperature from a Duvel glass. The thick pure-white head fills half of the part of the glass not taken up by the opaque golden liquid; it doesn’t lace at all and decays quickly....pale/pils malts evident in the nose, hint of spicing, not unpleasant but nothing to get excited about either.....on the tongue, reasonably close to what it’s mimicing, with a decent blend of sweet-tart orange and sourdough characteristics, a bit of coriander, perhaps a touch of ginger....too sweet, a bit too strongly carbonated and too thin and watery, but really quite drinkable and not in the least offensive; might be A-B’s best beer now, certainly the first one I can remember thinking that I actually wouldn’t mind drinking again. For free, anyway.

Cloudy orange. A wheat base with orange and herb flavors. Light. Good carbonation. Served with an orange slice.

Draught at The Cornerstone, Kenora, Ontario. Pours a hazy medium gold, quite dark for a wit, with a smallish white head, which lasts pretty well, and leaves good lacing. The aroma is dominated by orange peel, with not too much influence from coriander, and not a lot of wheat presence. Orange and light coriander up front give way to wheat sweetness in the mid-palate, which joins with sweet orange in the finish. Drinkable, but a bit out of balance, and lacking that witbier crispness.

DATE TASTED: May 17, 2015... GLASSWARE: plain weizen... OCCASION: a long day of yard and garden work in the books... APPEARANCE: slightly hazy, lemon yellow body that sports minimal carbonation; fizzing white head fizzles to a pencil-thin mustache; soap suds for lacing...AROMA: funky farmhouse yeast challenges the expectation of a orange-peel label; pungent rubber and plasticine... PALATE: watery, oily, slippery and paradoxically, only mildly refreshing... TASTE: Malty and off-kilter--lukewarm sweetness and not much in the way of flavor...OVERALL: a pretty bad approximation of a wheat beer...tough to find much positive to say about this, and I have railed against bad beers in other reviews for too long...so, I would only drink this if little else we’re available--even a light beer is preferable...

From tap. Cloudy orange with very low head. Aroma is weak with notes of orange and some bread and yeast. Taste is mostly sweet orange, fairly little CO2. Nice on a really hot day, otherwise...NAH

14th May 2015: 12oz bottle into a La Chouffe badged stemmed tulip glass. Hazy light orange pour with a full white head. Citrusy and spicy nose, the taste similar. Watery and thin body wise, the flavours also on the weak side, orange peel like feel to the taste, but not pleasant. Glad I didn’t buy this: it was brought to a BBQ by a guest.

Good wheat beer with very little aroma tast is a fruity sweet and the cloud color lets you know it's a wheat. I would say this is average at best.

Salty wierd bandaid spice nose. Super watery with no real wit flavor. Helped putting an orange slice in it. Super fizzy but no head or aroma or flavor to support carbonation.

I mean it’s a Shocktop. Great intro beer to get folks into craft beer. Not much to see other than that. Potentially the sole reason why I no longer like Wit’s as much as I used to.

Draught at SJ airport. Cloudy lemon with a thin head. Aroma is light perfume. Flavour is creamed wheat, tiny bit of bitterness, a little malt on the finish.
