2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draftmark system. Decent but light nose -- citrus, mostly. Pours a hazy gold with a tight white head. Flavor is acceptable, though lacking in most qualities you expect from a wit. Itís a gateway wit -- first hitís inexpensive, I guess.

Superpint at Tavern United. Light fruity scent from a hazy, off-yellow brew with no head. Typically more my girlfriendís fave style for beer, turned out to be a very nice sweet-citrus flavour with a gentle carbonation. Very short lived finish, notably different from other wheat beers Iíve tried, yet still true to the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
floral, grass, citrus, golden, cloudy, minimal head, white foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, light body, creamy, average carbonation, bitter
Pours golden with hazy yeast - nice to see unfiltered beer from Big Rock. Medium white foam that leaves some lacing. Green fresh aromas of grass/floral with hint of citrus. Taste only slightly bitter, mouthfeel is creamy, and finishes on the subtle side if bitter. Bitterness does not linger and clean palate awaits the next drink. Overall, very good offering for the summer - reasonably priced refresher.

Very pretty, cloudy, golden color. Decent body. Very bland even for the style. $1.00 for 16 ounce can. Does anyone make money at this price!?!

I think this particular beer would receive higher scores from the community if it had been put out by some micro. My snobbery caused me to rate it lower, then I changed my score. I enjoyed it. It's a nice summer treat on a hot day. It's very drinkable & a great entry point for folks used to drinking "swill" lite. A previous poster makes this point very well.
Wow, unfiltered beer! Looks great. At the end of the day a Hoegaarden isote satisfying, but a good effort for what It is & what it tries to do.

Freshly tasting beer, not so much to say. Lady friendly beer with taste of citrus. Good to be served ice cold on a warm summer day. But not more then that.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Tasted on 7/9/14 from an 11.5oz aluminum bottle purchased at the local grocery store. Pours cloudy orange with an average off white head that leaves a thick collar of lace. The nose is caramelized orange peel with some light spice and cream of wheat malt. The flavor is a bit more malt forward with the orange peel all candy and not really any bitter, but there is an herbal note. The body is medium with a somewhat creamy body, average carbonation, and a medium candied orange peel finish.

I poured a 16oz can into a weizen glass. It was canned on 5/1/14 and cost only $1 ($0.06 per ounce).
Appearance: Hazy, translucent shade of light orange/maize. Visible carbonation. Pours to a large, white, frothy head which mostly dissipates and leaves little lacing on the glass.
Smell: A generic macro beer aroma with hints of orange and spice. Not something Iíd usually identify with a witbier smell.
Taste: Shock Top Belgian White is probably the best beer made by Anheuser-Busch, and thatís really say something. Though, as true to the style goes Ė it has quite a ways to go to be a good example. I can see what itís meant to do Ė be light enough tasting so as not to scare away the macro lager drinker, but unique enough to find interesting. In that aspect it works. Of course, holding it to the same standards as craft beer it is only alright at best (but again, thatís impressive considering the brewer).
Thereís a general wheat flavor up front coupled with a light orange sherbet taste. A touch of coriander gives it a little zing or zip or zestiness, though this is in no way a spicy palette per se. I notice a slight tang or astringency on the finish, and just like the nose, thereís a nondescript ďmacroĒ quality to the palette as a whole here. Personally, I find it tolerable and I can appreciate it for what it is. Though I can understand snobs who hate it as well as newbies who love it. To me itís just okay.
Drinkability: If youíre going to drink Shock Top Belgian White, the best way to enjoy it is as a summer seasonal (even though itís available year-round). It has a refreshing quality to be sure, and it leaves a clean aftertaste, which is more than can be said for most macro beers. The mouthfeel is light with consistent carbonation and a smooth finish. It doesnít seem to take full advantage of its 5.2% ABV body, as it drinks like something even lighter. Iím sure the average macro drinker would have no problem sessioning it in the summer, though.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On draft at an Outbacker Steakhouse in Abington, PA. Served with an orange slice. Unclear and pale orange, no head, high carbonated. Fruity orange on the nose. Mid yeasty at the start, light orange fruity, soft caramell. Not really a long aftertaste. Itīs okay for an industrial US beer, but seriously not a complex beer and far away of from an origin belgian witbier.

I have no idea how people can enjoy this horrible beer. To put it simply; it smells and tastes like vomit! Very low quality.
