3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at Kurtkeller 001: Pumpkin-tastic 01 on 11/22/2013. Dark brown pour with a thin beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of chocolate, malt and vanilla. Light-bodied with flavors of sweet cocoa, vanilla and malt. The finish is sweet with a pure milk chocolate aftertaste. Decent, although I don’t know what exactly qualifies it as "Belgian" unless it refers to the chocolate.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Generic, boring, unappealing aroma of macros. Taste is better - nice vanilla, pretty smooth, chocolate in the back. Sampled at Macadoodles. Server thought it was bitter, but it isn’t. Certainly drinkable; good by Shock Top’s lower standards.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Chocolate syrup and vanilla nose. Cola black, creamy thin tan head. Vanilla and cocoa, sweet, with a wisp of smoke on the back of the palate. Some wood and ash notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Probably artificial flavoring, but it works for me.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Transfer from BA review on 12-24-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a big head of a tan color. The head fades super quickly leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a sweet milky chocolate smell with tons of vanilla mixed within. Along with these are some lighter grainy wheat and a light yeast as well as a little bit of a roasted and char like aroma.
Taste – The taste begins a sweet vanilla and chocolate flavor with a hint of wheat bread mixed within. These flavors create the bulk taste of the beer lasting throughout the flavor. The sweeter chocolate and vanilla get a little more intense as the flavor advances bringing more sweetness to the taste. Along with this, the wheat becomes slightly grainier, with the increase in sweet and grain bringing the flavor to the end, and leaving a rather chocolaty and light wheat bread flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the lighter side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher and pricklier side. Overall both are rather appropriate for the wheat flavors and the abv. of the brew, but a bit thicker of a body may have supported the chocolate flavors of the brew slightly better. Overall the feel was OK though.
Overall –They do pack a lot of sweet chocolate into a rather modest abv. brew. If looking for something very chocolaty and sweet with a lighter abv. then this may be a good choice, but otherwise…..

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Free beer. Thanks Fred.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was dark brown color with a fizzy bubbly white head that dissipated within seconds. There was barely any lacing.
The smell had a weird burnt chocolate grainy nuttiness going on.
The taste was grainy burnt chocolate.
On the palate, it had a light sweet burnt chocolatey-ness going on over my tongue.
Overall, weird beer, well I tried it and wasn’t thrilled most likely wouldn’t have it again.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Had to dig down deep for this thing. Very strange mix of wheat and chocolate that was tolerable until you added spice....

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a brown color with a light coco aroma. Taste is simple, a bit watery. Good coco flavor comes through with the initial mouthful but it quickly disappears. The spice (coriander?) doesn’t seem to fit within this beer. Overall a refreshing wheat ale beer.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at a friends house. Poured into a clear plastic tumbler. It was a pool party so at least it wasn’t a red solo cup. I love the dark color and head. Flavor or was much more chocolate than I expexted albeit more like mockolate than chocolate flavor.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: JUN 19, 2014 This poured very dark brown, with a fizzly white head that disappeared very quickly, leaving almost nothing on the beer or on the glass.
The immediate aroma was hints of chocolate and coffee, but the first mouthful was like a cold and watered down chocolate drink. This is so little like beer that I almost hesitate to review it!
The aftertaste is chocolate, the aroma is chocolate, the mouthfeel is thin and lifeless (unlike chocolate - I feel cheated). My impression is disappointed.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy with a little bit of cocoa, cola and licorice. The flavor was malty chocolate, vanilla, vague dark fruits and caramel. Long finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Surprisingly pleasant.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Was afraid of this one finally found a single to try. Aroma is bakers chocolate. Took me a few sips to decide if I liked this or not. Similar a bit to amber bock and the Michelob vanilla cask beer from a few years back. Smooth easy drinker subtle chocolate taste drinkable dark beer a bit thin in the palate. Enjoyable and forgettable at the same time for what it was it was enjoyable.
