Pours dark brown with a slight off-white head, and some minor lacing. Aroma is milk chocolate and just a hint of hops. Taste is pretty sweet with milk chocolate and a touch of hop bite. Medium body, decent carbonation. Not bad.

Grocery store 12 oz. single poured into standard drinking glass. Good chocolate aroma out of the bottle with a slight malt hint. This beer is almost black in color with a standard commercial beer head. Not as sweet as expected but stronger than average chocolate flavor. This beer doesn’t leave much to the palate and whatever chocolate is up front diminishes fast. Overall Shockalade is a novelty as many of this brand are but still a fun novelty in a single serving that once finished you can move on to the next one.

Well this is an interesting seasonal effort by ShockTop; poured from the bottle, this beer features a rich cocoa and coffee bean aroma, not much wheat or malt notes, just warm chocolate. Has an appetizing black ruby color, brief white head, which I suppose is a little hazy as you would expect from a wheat beer. Taste is initially a pleasant chocolate and wheat flavor with vanilla bean notes, but then tapers off into an unpleasant coca cola artificial caramel finish. Carbonation is a bit too fizzy, and overall this brew has an artificial hint to it, which is openly indicated in the subtext of the bottle's label. Still admittedly enjoyable overall, but there are better chocolate craft beers out there.

Bottle from 7- 11 in Waikiki 201214. The first thing that hits you with this beer is the strong chocolate aroma. Pours out of the bottle black with a thick body. There is a big hit of chocolate in the flavour and the chocolate seems to overpower any other flavours that may be in there.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. As Shockolate Wheat. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma is mild chocolate with a spice note. And vanilla. Med body or nearly. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla and some spice. I’m thinking wheat can’t support these sorts of flavors. Barley. Might have made this work.

Loads of chocolate but almost fake...hersheys syrup and water. Vanilla. I was hoping for more.

Cocoa and wheat malt aroma. Dark brown with small head. Mildly sweet cocoa and wheat malt flavor. Probably the best Shock Top.

No real faults despite be made by a macro. A near perfect combination of malts and cocoa flavor, touch of orange but no hop bitterness. A nice casual winter drinking beer with a hearty lunch ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle pours dark brown color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is milk chocolate and not much else. Taste is milk chocolate sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Like drinking a chocolate bar.
