2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Might have midnight wheat but it sure isnt midnight dark! Pours amber with a medium lt tan head. Aroma has tootsie roll chocolate notes and a bit of chili...cheap and muddled with other spice. Flavor has dry leaves, earthy bitterness, minimal chocolate, and a chili afterthought that seems out of place. Mouthfeel is full and the finish is earthy/roasty and dry.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Ummmm, Midnight Wheat? I was expecting something, I dunno, very dark, silly me. A light old leather brown brew with amber at the edges. There is a thin khaki head that lingers. The nose is like sweet gingerbread doused in chocolate. There appears to be a hint of chili, but I am probably making that up because of the label. The taste is like musty old gingerbread with a bit of cola thrown in. There is also some hint of citrus, which is just out of whack with the rest of the brew. I think I get just the slightest faint hint of chili in the finish, along with a little bit of ashy wood. Not bad, but boring as usual from a fake micro.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2012 Bottle. Dark roasted malts. Lots of wheat. 6% beer was way bigger than I would have thought. Not as big a fan of this as the pumpkin.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours in grand American fashion! Very cloudy dark amber with a massive frothy head. Aroma of dark wheat. Let it sit a while and this turns to old vegetables. The flavor is bitter dark wheat malt followed by chocolate and some chili spice. This beer goes from good to bad and back to good again. Good job anhueser bush in bev aka shock top. Could have fooled me, but didnít.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy brown-orange with a medium collapsing beige head that leaves a little lace. Aroma consists of generic beer, cinnamon. Taste is sweet and a bit savory with typical Shock Top/Blue Moon spices. Iím not getting too much chili--there might be a faint burn in the back of the throat, but itís barely detectable. Mouthfeel is creamy and the carbonation is soft. Probably the best Shock Top Iíve had, but you can tell they were playing it safe here. They could have amped up the chili more and made a real off-the-wall brew, but AB/InBev is all about not pushing any kind of envelope. Still, this is not too bad.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy orange/amber with a pale tan head that is quite full. Aroma is roasted wheat and spice. Taste is dark buttery caramel, sweet malt, biscuits and a hop bitterness that is assertive but doesnít dominate. Pretty decent effort.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Mild powdered cocoa and wheat cracker are evident in the aromatics. Pours a hazy chestnut brown with a two finger beige head. Carbonation is lively adding some zing to the mouthfeel. Balanced earthy flavor profile with light chocolate malts taking a leading roll, then fading to allow some bittering hops to creep in towards the end if the swallow. A quality quarter equally at home with a space chicken dish as it is during a session on its own.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce bottle- Poured out a fine caramel red with a strong, wheat colored head. Aroma was straight yeast with no hint of the promised chocolate or malt. Taste followed suit. Not bad, not great.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pour from a 12oz bottle. Cloudy dark amber/brown brew with small head. Aroma of chocolate and peppers. Taste follows aroma - a little chocolate at the start and pepper in the finish, not a whole lot in between. Average palate. OK but hits me as rather unpleasant.
