Bottle shared by Blipp at tasting at my house. Pours tan brown with off white head. Nose and taste of fake chocolate, light spices, banana and wheat malt. Medium to medium/light body.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Poured a lighter brown color with some orange highlights. Upon pouring there is a two finger off white head that has a good level of retention, eventually fading to give a nice level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a sweet chocolate and a caramel smell. Mixed with this is a lighter roasted malt and wheat aroma. Taste –The taste starts out with a wheaty and roasted flavor. As the taste advances, a chocolate flavor enters the taste. The chocolate starts out sweeter with notes of a caramel nature mixed within. It then dries out some as the caramel fades. While it dries out, it again then sweetens as a citrus flavor comes to the tongue near the end of the taste. At the end a somewhat off chocolately citrus wheat flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the just below medium side with a carbonation level that is slightly higher than average. The lighter body did not go well with the chocolate flavors of the brew, but the carbonation at least made it quicker drinking by not accentuating the more off mix of chocolate, wheat and citrus. Overall – Not a beer I would likely take on again. The flavors just did not transition or even go well with each other. Not my thing.

Cloudy chestnut color. surprisingly good lacing. Smokey flavor but doesn’t overwhelm the chocolate malt. nice thick mouthfeel. People lament the lack of flavor but for a wheat ale this is great.

Found some old notes on this. Oh boy, here we go. I poured this into a pint glass. The appearance was a cloudy muddy brown colored body that leaves a nice two finger white foamy head that lasts for a good two minutes before slowly dieing. Lacing shows after the head concaves into the body, nice and spider-webs. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. The smell, well, here is where we take a wrong turn. It starts out ok with the chocolate and wheat combined decently up front, but something didn’t smell right as it warmed. The taste well, it was basically the same and comes out extremely bland (anyone remember the old Wendy’s commercial "where’s the beef?", ok right here I’d like to say "where’s the flavor?"). In other words, whatever happened in the smell didn’t happen in the taste ... ??? On the palate, it was light and super watery with nothing harsh on the tongue. Overall, ok, it says on the side of the bottle, there’s chili and spice, and once again, I’ll use that old Wendy’s line, "where’s the [chili and spice]?" So if this is supposed to be so complex with other flavors, where are they? In retrospect, I will say fitting name as this will be the "end of the world" for this beer. Cue Dierks Bentley - "what was I thinking?"

Bottle from craft. Shock top night wasn’t a total issapointment, but they all lack body and ingredients to push the series to the next level. Some nice notes of wheat, and spice. Chocolate was ehh.

This beer made me gape in disbelief. Not in a good way. Tastes like chocolate mixed with spicy pepper, wheat malt, and other spices. Too many strong flavors at ounce. It overwhelms your palate in the shittiest possible way. I kind of admire the balls that it took to release this, but the flavors clash horribly.

Best by 24JAN 13 Had to do it. Pours cloudy tea colored with a etched surface of tan. Smells of wheat, coriander, cinnamon, some milky smells. Tastes like powdered cocoa, wheat, a bit of charcoal, some more coriander and a bit of fucking terrible. No, it’s just terrible. Thin with hi carb and a dry finish. This is just really disappointing from such a reputable brewer. Serving type: bottle 11-04-2012

Accidentally blew my notes away for this one on my phone but I remember being more impressed than the general masses with this one. Aroma had wheat, chocolate and spice and some caramel. Taste was sweet and spicy with wheat, dark malts, chocolate, spices and a mild spicy finish.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Bottle: Dark copper, brown, highly opaque and hazy, capped with an off-white head that doesn’t last for long at all. The smell was not great... strong off-putting metallic notes with medicinal fruits... just unappealing. Taste isn’t as bad... less metallic. Slight toffee and caramel, toasted malt; not much chocolate, really. I get a little chili powder mid-palate that gives off a meaty vibe. Not bad, but weird. Very, very light wheat body. Thin, crisp mouth feel with tight carbonation. Strange beer. Different and mysterious... but not in a good way.
