Draft at STL brewery. Aroma is all tart apple. Pour is a very hazy orange yellow color with no head. Taste is sweet up front with a quick tart apple jolly rancher. Crisp dry finish.

THOUGHTS: Just about right between a beer and a cider. Quite refreshing. Great beverage. Don’t know if I can really call it a beer, though. TECHNICAL: Drank 3/8/2013. Bottle. Poured a hazy, medium to dark yellow with an average to large head that mostly but slowly diminished. The aroma contained light wheat, light to moderate yeast, apple, apple cider and apple skin. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was moderately acidic and lightly sweet and bitter with a short to average duration. There was wheat, yeast, apple skin, apple, candy candy and apple cider. The light to medium body was fairly dry with soft but tingly carbonation and dry and metallic finish.

More Shock Top. I thought I was done with these, no worries, here’s my take on this one. Into a pint glass, the appearance was a fairly amber to light brown color with a decent looking half finger-ed white foamy head that left an exceptionally light lacing trying to cling to the glass but its sliding for the most part. The smell, well, it had the apple, if anything. Did it have anything else? Hmmm...not really. The taste, well, its sweet and it has the apple. On the palate, this one sits pretty light and sessionable. The carbonation seems to be good for the "fruit beer" style. Overall, hey, not a bad Spring beer at all. Would I have it again? Hmmm...maybe if offered, but not one for me to actually seek out.

Good summer beer. A little sweet taste more like a cider but taste like apples. The shocker made a good choice with this one.

Great flavor of a cider and a beer in one. Classic shock top logo. Apple taste is not artificial.

Drank from can. Smells like a green apple jolly rancher and tastes like it too. Slightly artificial in flavor. Hint of apple cider sourness in the finish. Not terrible but not something I’ll ever go back to.

This stuff smells and tastes exactly like a spiced version of Woodchuck Cider or any of those apple flavored alcoholic soda pops. The main difference is this is a little skunky, which is just bizarre. It’s in a bown bottle and how much hops can be possibly in this crap anyway. It pours a headless cloudy orange and has fairly mild carbonation. It claims to be a hybrid but this is really more of a cider than a beer--though not really a good cider. I suppose this stuff serves a certain purpose for a lot of people but it is not exactly what I’d call a sophisticated beverage, designed and intentended for consumption by adults.

12 oz bottle from Kroger. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have wheat malts, tart apples, light earthy character, thin, but better than I thought it would be.
