Freebie! Thanks to The Village Wine Shop in Lakeland, FL. Nose is slight nutmeg/allspice with a hint of cinnamon. Poured out a nice clear orange with a decent sized, white head that stayed around for a while. Nice and drinkable with a decent raw veggie, pumpkin pie spice flavor. Better than expected.

Bottle at GAF. Pours a hazy gold with a persistent head. The nose is okay, subdued spicing of nutmeg & perhaps clove? Some earthy notes come through as well. On tasting, pretty inoffensive. Doesn’t kill you with nutmeg, which is a good thing. Light spicing works okay. Not too bad, could be far worse...

A scary iguana-looking orange slice on the label - truly a bad trip. Auburn, woody beer with a very thin head. I’m not sure whether I hate pumpkin beers, or whether I just hate the cloying "Cinnamon/Clove/Allspice Rules The World" thing that they feel obligated to do in conjunction with pumpkin. Pumpkin works with basil. Pumpkin works with cocoa. Pumpkin works with your usual graham cracker flavors, which is stock beer flavoring. No need for the pie spices. That said, there was a certain mustard undertone to the aroma that was interesting. Not sweet, kinda bland. Thin mouthfeel, with a mustardy/raw vegetable aftertaste. A bit tangy on the lips. Tick (snicker, drowland.) Part of a mixpack. ABC Likkas, Appalachee Parkway.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2014 Appearance is a small white head and hazy amber appearance. Aroma is strongly spice. Taste is a sweet pumpkin spice. Overall a decent fall variety.

THE LABEL IS A MARKETING TACTIC! LOOKS COOL, MAKES ME FEEL AS IF I AM COOLER (THAN AN ORDINARY DAY OF COOLNESS) WHEN I HAVE ONE IN MY HAND. I ASKED MY WIFE TO GET ME A 12 PACK OF SHIPYARD PUMPKINHEAD...LIQUOR STORE WAS OUT OF STOCK SO SHE SUBSTITUTED SHOCK TOP. I YELLED, "NO SUBSTITUTIONS!" HERES MY OPINION: AROMA---POPPED THE TOP AND WATCHED THE DRAGON TAIL-LIKE FOG HOVERING IN-BETWEEN THE AIR AND LIQUID, SPIRALING INTO NON-EXISTENCE. THE LABEL READS "PUMPKINS AND A VARIETY AUTUMNAL SPICES" WHICH RAISED MY EXPECTATIONS; MY EXPECTATIONS WERE UNMET. TYPE IN "AROMA" IN GOOGLE AND SHOCK TOP WILL NOT BE NUMBER 1. NOR WILL IT BE 2, 3 OR 4...YOU SEE WHERE I AM GOING WITH THIS. THIS BEER LACKS A DISTINCT AROMA. CINNAMON, PUMPKIN (SOMETHING REDNECKS DO DURING HALLOWEEN) AND NUTMEG HAVE A STRONG AROMA. I COOK QUITE A BIT AND HAVE USED ALL THREE. I FEEL AS IF THE FOLKS AT AH-BUSH DID NOT USE ANY OF THE THREE. AND YES, I DID FOLLOW THE POURING INSTRUCTIONS ON THE NECK. APPEARANCE--- LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER BUD PRODUCT. LETS INNOVATE FOLKS. TASTE---MEDIUM BITTER AFTER TASTE, LIGHT TO START. NO SHOCK-TOP. BING "TASTE" AND YOU MAY GET SHOCK TOP AS A RESULT BECAUSE BING SUCKS. PALATE---LIGHT BODY, THIN POLAND SPRINGS LIKE TEXTURE, DIET COKE FIZZ, SLIGHT BITTER FINISH LEAVING YOU TO CRAVE FOR SOMETHING ELSE. CLOSE TO FINISHING THE BOTTLE, I SWALLOW AND MAKE A FACE (TO MYSELF) ; A CONTORTED, JUST SMELLED A DEAD BODY KINDA FACE. AND FOLKS, DONT LET THIS BEER GET WARM...NASTY. THE LAST SWIG IS RESERVED FOR THE RECYCLING RATS AT THE REDEMPTION CENTER.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange amber with an off white head. Pumpkin spicy aroma with some light sweetness. The flavor has nutmeg and pumpkin pie spice, a light sweetness, and pie crust. Pretty good. Put a name other than "Shock Top" on the front of this bottle and I bet this would be rated half a point higher.

THOUGHTS: Better than I would have expected. Subtle, not overpowering. Nice change from all the stronger pumpkins that are sometimes overdone or too heavy on the spices. The wheat added a new twist. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a murky, medium brownish orange with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma had moderate wheat, pumpkin, pie crust and spice cookie; light yeast; something citrus like; and pumpkin pie spices. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, slightly sour and lightly acidic; while the finish was slightly sweet, lightly acidic, ever so slightly bitter and slightly sour. There was pumpkin, something orangey, wheat, yeast, pumpkin pies spices and spiced cookies. The medium body was sort of watery and a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly astringent and ever so slightly chalky finish.

Draft @ the local sports bar. Nothing going to surprise you here. Lively in carbonation. Light wheat beer taste. Not much different than the normal Shock Top but the cinnamon and nutmeg help it. I never would have guessed pumpkin if I didn’t know beforehand. I would say a watery butternut squash. Anyway…. Ok. A bit better than I would have guessed with AB making this stuff.

Bottle. Poured a hazy orange color with a big pillowy white head. Left some small amounts of lacing as it went. Aroma was caramel, ginger, and some pumpkin in there. Flavor was bread and yeast up front. Finished to a watery spice, cinnamon pumpkin flavor. Not a whole lot to this beer. Kind of watery, but still better than I thought for an AB beer.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2011 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy cantaloupe with a medium off-white head that collapses pretty fast. Pumpkin pie spices are strong in the nose, but it smells like they’re backing a bland macro malt bill. Tastes like....V8?? There’s seriously a tomatoey-like vegetable flavor in here. WTF is in this thing? I also detect a little bit of a chemical flavor. High carbonation--too fizzy. Not all that bad, just really weird.
