3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not as good as the regular Shock Top but still an okay beer. Hazy gold body and a soapy white head represent a sweet, easy drinking beer. The aroma is all raspberries, and the taste is mostly raspberries with a little citrus. I think the raspberries overpower the beer a bit, but it’s a good summer quencher.

Actually not too bad for a raspberry beer. Not too overwhelming. Pours an average cloudy yellow. Smells intensely of raspberry. More in the taste, but not too fake tasting. Had on tap at Fontana in NYC. Valerie gives it a 5.

Can from the LCBO. Hazy gold body with a slight pinkish tinge and a creamy white head - looks quite nice, really. Aroma of raspberry jam - not homemade jam, mind you, but overly sweetened mass produced store bought stuff - with a faint backnote of wheat and lemon. Body starts fairly crisp, but as the beer warms, it gets sticky and cloying. Flavour is just what the aroma suggests - i.e. sweet artificial-tasting raspberry on top of a weak wheat ale. A poor showing.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Can: Poured a light yellow color ale with a light bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of fake raspberry syrup is quite awful with quite a bit of residual sugars. This is closer to a cooler than beer. Taste is a mix between some grainy wheat malt notes with quite a bit of residual sugar and way too much of the awful raspberry syrup. Body is light with good carbonation. I wasn’t expecting some kind of masterpiece but what a bunch of crap this beer was.

This tastes like rare and whale. 5.0. Or, actually, it is a shitty novelty beer by AB InBev and I want nothing to do w/ it. It tastes like raspberry crystal light mixed in w/ some kind of bland wheat beer. What really kills it though is the gross, thick texture. It does look pretty nice w/ a decent head though so there’s that. Next time I run across this stuff, I am going to look at it and refrain from drinking it for maximum pleasure.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pour from a 12 oz. bottle at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten in St. Louis. Pours a cloudy gold, barely tinted, with a small white head. Not much spice to speak of but plenty of raspberry flavoring to go along with wheat and sweet citrus. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a sweet mouthfeel. I won’t revisit this one.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle at StL brewery. Nose is an artificial fruitiness like a jolly rancher. Pour is a hazy light yellow. Taste isn’t that bad, the raspberry is way more subtle than the aroma. Semisweet and tame.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Continuing on my Shock Top kick, next up is this one.
Most of the time this was poured into a pint glass, but because it says Belgian on the label, I did pour this once into a chalice and once into a snifter, there wasn’t any noticeable difference.
The appearance was a ruddy brown to almost a slight red color with a decent looking half fingered white foamy and bubbly head. This head rapidly dissipated into oblivion leaving nothing on top of the beer itself. What lacing, there wasn’t any.
The smell, well that definitely had the raspberry to it. There was some light wheaty/breadiness about it as well.
The taste was basically raspberry and wheat and it was fairly well combined.
The palate, well, it sat about a light to medium on the body and showed a fairly decent sessionable quality about it. The carbonation seemed not bad.
Overall, not a bad beer. I think Budweiser did what they wanted to with this beer. However, would I have this again? Probably not.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
I dont think this is a very good example of a fruit flavoured beer. Its standard appearance is quite fine in a hazed golden pour with a frothed creamy foam atop the body. However, the nose points to synthetic raspberry and grains and frankly not much else that this nose can detect. Its sweet, as it should be, slightly bitter. The nose is still distracting from the flavour profile, however. Nothing wheat about this beer as far as I can tell. A creamy finish is left with the memories of fake raspberries.

473ml can that says Raspberry White. Pours a cloudy dark yellow with a two finger, white head that thins quickly. Aroma has a big raspberry and not much else. Taste is of sweeter raspberry with a sweeter aftertaste. Mild wheat notes. Medium body and carbonation. Syrupy mouth feel. Overall ok. Probably used raspberry flavouring. A bit too much sweet and no tart.

Sampler at Craft Beer Fest Edmonton. Taste is Shocktop + artificial syrupy raspberry flavor. Echhhhh.
