Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 11, 2008 Slightly hazy reddish-brown colour. Slightly toasty aroma with woody notes and light caramel. Rich caramel and toasty palate. Clean and balanced, but gets lighter towards the finish. JoeMcPhee (3811), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 20, 2007 I found this bottle sitting at the back of my fridge from way back in September. Thanks to daijokey for leaving it there. Deep ruby amber beer, white head. Aroma is quite herbal and slightly nutty . A bit of oxidation, but shows a fairly assertive nutty malt character. Flavour is pretty solid, rich caramel with a nutty sweetness. Soft fruity ester and a light herbal bitterness. A bit of chewy sweetness. Interesting brew. Capa (738), Yokosuka, Japan Feb 24, 2007 Pours a deep, rich red color with a large, fuffy off white head. Aroma is citrus and malt. Body is a bit thin. Flavor is pretty nice. Roasted malts, lemon, a touch of hops round it out. Finish is a little short. Not a bad beer. TimE (1031), Tokyo, Japan Nov 25, 2005 Mahogany color. Malty lemon nose. Malty mouth with caramel, cherries, strawberries and a touch of milk chocolate. Malty dry finish. aceofhearts (1373), San Francisco, California, USA Oct 17, 2005 Tap @ brewery. This was the first beer I drank there. It was a fun journey; once we got off the train we only had vague directions, but soon it was a game of "If there are red-faced Asian people staggering in our direction saying ’Herro’ and laughing to themselves, then we’re headed the right way". This beer is a red ale with some toasty malts, a little bit of hop zing in the finish. Brownish-red, light tan head. Some alcohol and mild chocolatey presence; enough to keep it interesting. Basic but I liked.
