On tap at the GTMW 2011. Hazy copper with a creamy tan cabeza. Aroma of resinous hops, pine, citrus, alcohol and crystal malt. Taste is big, hoppy and balanced. Come across as a citrus bomb with resinous hops, caramel, fruit. Sweet and hoppy with a nice bitter finish. I always pass this brewpub on the highway, I’ll have to stop in next time through!

Sampler poured draft at the brewpub (Michigan City, IN). Pours a very dark dense amber, almost brownish, hazy or even a bit murky. Decent offwhite head that laces and sticks around well. Aromas are citrusy, grapefruit and resiny pine. Caramel malts show up, lightly, fruity but thick. Initial mirrors this, a bit thick heavy on fruity and a twinge of pine, moving over to light tropical even. Sweet, bitter, a melange of flavors. For a DIPA, I’d prefer more bitterness to distract me from the thicker body. Finishes a bit bitter, but toffee and caramel actually steal the show, sweetness, a bit fruity, decent bitterness eventually. Not a true hop bomb, but a well built DIPA. Cheers.

Pours a nice brownish-yellow as far as I can tell from my mug. Smallish head that dissipates quickly. Wicked, sticky, hop aroma, mostly of flowers. A fine, fine sipping beer. Fresh flavor.

Substantial PNW hopping present here...grapefruit and pinesol, on top of a sweet caramel malt bottom. Really drinks more like a regular American IPA to me.

Draft. Very small tan head that mostly diminished, virtually no lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and an orange hue. Nose was lightly malty, light caramel, hoppy, citrus, and pine. Ditto for the flavor. Fairly smooth mouthfeel and medium in body. Nicely done given the style, but not as hoppy tasting as I was expecting. Worthy of a try.

This draft brew from a beer festival poured a very small sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a uncarbonated orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The weak aroma was hoppy floral and malty. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of tingly hops and soft floral. An OK brew just nothing special.

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Pours a transparent dark golden bronze with a well-lacing light tan head. Aroma of earthy grassy catnip and grapefruity hops with some mildly sweet caramel malt. Body starts with a good crisp pale malty sweetness and fresh bittersweet warming hoppy finish. Crisp and enjoyable, a good IIPA.
