Dark amber, no head or lacing. Big taste of molasses/caramel malt/dried fruit - especially prune. Bittering from the natural ingredients. Big taste, but not memorable.

Draft at Shoreline Brewery. Small tan head, transparent reddish brown body, very little carbonation noted, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma was caramel, sweet, berries, and molasses. The flavor is sweet, berries, caramel, molasses, and a tad bit spicy. The mouthfeel was smooth and this is a light-medium bodied beer. Overall, this beer is way too sweet and it was a hard beer to finish due to the sweetness.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a semi-opaque dark red brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was malty and licorice. The mildly oily mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and licorice. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. Warning, this beer has a kick!

On tap at Shoreline Brewery and served in a 10.5oz glass. This beer poured a dark, muddy copper with a one-finger thick head of lasting beige foam. Excellent lacing. The aroma consisted of toasted caramel, brown sugar, and a hint of dark fruit. The flavor was also strong on the caramel and brown sugar, but also had a light element of smoke, and some warming alcohol. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had light carbonation. Decent.

On tap at the brewpub: This poured a very dark brown body with a smallish eggshell head. The aroma was of darkly sweet roasted malts. The flavor added molasses and dark berries to the mix along with a hit of alcohol. Not a bad sipper.

Draft at brewpub at 48F. Poured dark brown color with an moderate rocky off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Good roasted sweet malty aroma. Medium body with sticky texture. Medium sweet complex malty flavor with a dark fruity sweet finish of average duration. Very enjoyable brew

Dark roasty malts, but infused with an unusual sweet fruitiness...a bit odd, but pretty drinkable. The nose is mostly roasted malts and whiff of alcohol. The flavors are dark roasted malts, dark fruits, alcohol and sweet caramel and molasses. A tad thin-bodied for the style.

Tasted 4/27/08. Filtered with a dark ruby hue. Trace head. Aromas of anise, soy sauce and blueberries. Rather full bodied with smokey malts and a toasty note. Fudge and vanilla. Honey and oaky. Nice yeast character. Tasty.
