mdm46410 (529), Griffith, Indiana, USA May 18, 2008 On tap at Shoreline Brewery and served in a snifter. This barley wine poured a dark, muddy brown with a thin, lasting beige head. Some nice lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of caramel, dark fruits, and a touch of alcohol. The flavor consisted of burnt caramel, ripe dark fruits, a hint of chocolate, and a mild alcohol note. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with light carbonation. The palate feels a bit thin, but this was still a nicely done barley wine. railcat1 (484), Hammond, Indiana, USA Jan 16, 2008 This is a style i do not really prefer but had to try on tap,it was malty and had a hop kick to it with a alcohol presence to it and a sweet finish.CHEERS! Cornfield (4254), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jan 15, 2008 Nice pour, a clear chestnut body with golden highlighting and an appropriate, creamy eggshell head. The aroma was sweet without being cloying, dusty caramel with appless, a hint of sweet cherries, and an earthy hop bitterness. All blended nicely into the flavor, the alcohol making itself known midway through. The finish is a blending of the bitter and the sweet, accompanied by a low alcohol burn. Nice.
