muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 6, 2007 10 ounce draught glass at the brewpub, June 19 2007. Hazy, very bright gold with just a touch of head and a bit of lacing....light grassy aroma with floral (dogwood) touches, pungent and expressive European hop notes appear when it has warmed somewhat....big biscuity malts envelope the tongue, nice sweet-dry balance throughout, very fresh and lightly hoppy, but alas the thinness and wateriness noted in some of the other samples I had really hurts this one....this place has some potential with a nice list of beers and a general cleanness to all of the products, but most of them need a bit more body to really shine. Cornfield (4343), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Apr 16, 2007 From the description on the beer’s page: "Traditionally, Kölsch is served with a slice of lemon." Wisely, they chose not to serve it that way to me. This pours a very pale yellow body, slightly hazy, with a respectable white head. Aroma and taste are faint commodities on this one, some sugary sweet pale malts, a light lemony tartness. Fortunately, a touch of floral bitterness is introduced at the midpoint and saves this ale. Okay lawnmower brew. Shoreline Brewery, Michigan City, IN
BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Oct 7, 2006 On tap: Unfiltered golden hue topped by a small lasting head and left good lace on the pint glass. The aroma has notes of aromatic hops, grassy, biscuity malts, some pear notes, and a hint of pepper. The taste is clean and crisp with a nice balance of bitters and mild sweet malt and a hint of wheat. Slight acidic bite with a dash of yeast flavor yet on to a short finish. The mouth feel is properly carbonated, spritzy and refreshing, nice. Solid brew and nice to have a Kölsch that is clean and refreshing. heemer77 (3782), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 6, 2008 Probably the best Kolsch I have ever tried. On tatp at the brewpub with a pale yellow body and white head. The aroma was biscuitws and boiled potatoes. The taste was sweet potatoes with some bread crust. An earthy bread crust finish. Very good. Tmoney99 (3636), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 1, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Poured clear golden color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate fruity sour citrus aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium biitersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.
