3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle purchased at Siciliano’s Market in Grand Rapids, MI in December, 2011 and rated on 4-10-2012. Pours a medium sized semi-frothy tan head that was mostly lasting. There were spottly amounts of lacing, opaque body, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown with a red tint hue. The Aroma is malty, suggestions of coffee and chocolate, roasty, rich, sweet, plums, and a little spicy. The Flavor is sweet, lightly bitter, malty, plums, burnt tasting, and a dry finish. The Mouthfeel is somewhat dry and this is a light-medium bodied Baltic Porter. Overall, this is certainly a different take on this beer style from what I have tasted in the past for the style. It has a lingering burnt aftertaste which was not offensive.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99 early 2012. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized khaki head. The aroma and flavor have some roasted malt, chocolate, plums, herbal notes, horehound candy and light dark spices. Dry finish and a bit odd.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at crunchy's. Three great breweries, one odd product. Really dark and pruney with some aftertaste I couldn't place.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
29th April 2012
Hazy amber beer, no head. Zero carbonation in the semi dry palate. Sourish malt. A little vinegar with intense dried fruits. Trace of port wine. Semi dry finish. A little odd, but you would hardly expect anything else from these brewers getting together. Strangely drinkable.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy fine to large sized light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The strange flavor contained notes of thick malty plum. Not one that I would drink again. Amiss as far as I am concerned by 3 of my favorite brewers.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home. Traded by Hopscotch. Thanks man! Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is light veggy but in a good way, chocolate, some roasted malt and some dried fruits. The flavour is bit tart fruity with some roasted notes. Light veggy and citric tart notes. Bitter light acidic finish with some roasted notes. Another strange and very different beer from Shorts.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce thanks to MP. Big dark pour. Taste is plum and slightly puckered with the overall feel of a Quad even thought it is a Baltic Porter. Instead of all that chocolate a porter would deliver, the dried fruit is really dominant. Very interesting.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Strong scent of plums and other dark fruit notes. Taste is a light roast with a big fruit/plum kick and a little bit of chocolate.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled 7/2/2011. Pours an almost pitch black hazy dark brown color with a nice 2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big plum, chocolate, peppercorn, caramel, molasses, herbal, floral, roasted malt, toast, bread, and earthy spiciness. Very nice and unique aromas; with good balance and complexity. Taste of big chocolate, roasted malt, toast, pepper, biscuit, caramel, raisin, floral, plum, herbal, and earthy spices. Fair amount of peppery bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, roasted malt, pepper, toast, dark fruit, caramel, and herbal spiciness. Great balance and complexity of flavors; very pleasant and enjoyable, given the unique ingredients used. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish noticed. Overall this is a great Baltic porter! Nice robust and balanced flavors, with good complexity; and very smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this one, and I am glad I got a chance to try it.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
deep amber brown with small head. unique flavor with lots of sweet plum. this doesn’t strike me as a porter, though i’m not sure what i’d classify it as instead. it’s an interesting beer, though i’m not sure i’d rush back to have another.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma has chocolate, some herbs, and corn. Taste is sweet, peppery and a little bitter. Not so good.
