COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pear Saison with profuse hoppiness. A collaboration between Half Acre Beer Co. and Short’s.

This version was brewed at Short’s Brewing Co.

Captain Fantasy is a lighter bodied ale with a bright, clear, golden color. This saison is brewed with pear to compliment the aromas of spice and the fruity fragrance of Sorachi Ace hops. Captain Fantasy has flavors of sweet pear and tart lemon, and a lively amount of carbonation cleanses and refreshes the palate. The overall fruitiness of Captain Fantasy is interrupted by an assertive hop bitterness that dominates the finish.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an almost clear yellow with a white head. Lovely sweet spicy hop aroma - I bet Sorachi Ace! Medium body, sweet and fruity with a slight tartness and then a salty edge. Again these nice Sorachi Ace notes. No real bitterness. Lovely. 150812

Hazy gold - amber beer with a big off white head. Softish and slightly dry palate. Mild bretty - seltzer sourness. Nice tangy fruits with sourish pear dominant. Trace of orange marmalade. Finishes smooth and semi dry with mild bitterness. Typically inventive Shorts and a nice Saison.

A: The beer pours a hazy golden color with a finger of white head. S: The pears really come through on this. There are lots of fruity hop aromas as well as the fruity ester qualities. A bit of pepper and some spicy notes that seem to be from the yeast. A light bread and malt aroma to round it out. T: Mildly bitter and peppery with a ton of apples and pears. There’s some yeast and quite a few different esters and phenols going on here. Some mild tropical fruits and a pretty nice citrus hop note. M: Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. O: Really a different beer, but the pears came through nicely. I liked this one.
