COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Freedom of ’78 is a medium bodied IPA with a wonderful, bright clarity and pleasing bronze hue. The aroma is a unique fusion of citrus fruit and subtle pine qualities. The distinct characteristics of the guava nectar are impossible to miss, and attributes of tangerine, nectarine, and even faint honey flavors are detectable. The finish quickly turns to an expected IPA bitterness that turns dry during prolonged tastings

12oz bottle - thanks to jjfoodie. Orange copper colored brew, good amount of white head. Citrus hop and guava aromas - LOTS of guava. More guava with some herbal flavors as well. Very interesting - glad I got a chance to try this.

I really like what Shorts does with their IPAs. The guava is pretty restrained in comparison to the nice mix of citrusy and tropical hops. Good beer, wouldn’t mind some fresh bottles.

Bottle pours deep amber with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of guava, mango, apricot, orange, and toffee. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of pine and some slight herbal characteristics. Overall body is moderate and sticky with well balanced bitterness.

Thanks to decadance for this one in trade. Pours a hazy orange yellow with a white head. Nose is guava, tropical fruit, peaches, apricots, and grapefruit/ citrus hops. Flavor is similar with lots of guava backed closely by citrus hops. Guava comes through nicely with tropical fruits, and bitter citrus. Nicely done!

Part of the 13 Shorts in one night tasting at the Mikes on 2/18/11. Thanks Mike. Was the first of the bunch, and one of the best. Nose is guava and grapefruit. Taste is great sharp IPA with strong bite of clean guava way in the back. Subtle. Not overpowering at all. Very nice.

Shorts version (12oz) thanks to Mora2000. Pours with a hazed golden body and a small white head. Aroma is big time passion fruit and guava, herbal and dank with a huge fruit note and a nice sweetness. Flavor is dry, bitter and a bit medicinal (medicine and medicinal bud for that matter), guava and herbal. Astringent hops. Dry. Not nearly as tasty as the other version of Freedom of 78.
