COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Freedom of ’78 is a medium bodied IPA with a wonderful, bright clarity and pleasing bronze hue. The aroma is a unique fusion of citrus fruit and subtle pine qualities. The distinct characteristics of the guava nectar are impossible to miss, and attributes of tangerine, nectarine, and even faint honey flavors are detectable. The finish quickly turns to an expected IPA bitterness that turns dry during prolonged tastings

Shorts version (12oz) thanks to Mora2000. Pours with a hazed golden body and a small white head. Aroma is big time passion fruit and guava, herbal and dank with a huge fruit note and a nice sweetness. Flavor is dry, bitter and a bit medicinal (medicine and medicinal bud for that matter), guava and herbal. Astringent hops. Dry. Not nearly as tasty as the other version of Freedom of 78.

Thanks to RBlaszak for sending this bottle my way. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is very fruity. I get a lot of guava as well as some papaya and apricot. The aroma is very interesting overall. The flavor is fruity, but what really stands out is how dry the beer is. The fruit is guava and some other tropical fruit such as papaya and mango. Low bitterness. The flavor is also a little bit tangy. Once again, very interesting. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A unique take on an IPA. Bravo.

Pours a crystal clear gold with a nice rocky head on it. Aroma is citrusy hops with a sweet malty background. medium body with pretty high carbonation. Flavor is mostly citrusy hops, with the guava & sweet maltiness behind it.

1/15/11. Bottle shared at the Sea Bass tasting. Crazy big nose of pot, pine, hops, cat pee, fruit, and more. Sweet tropical fruit flavor with tons of bitter hop kick, pine, and more. A bit strange, but very complex, and quite fruit forward. Nice!

Picked this up while in Kalamazoo. Pours orange and hazy with a very small frothy head. Aroma is tropical fruits but not like simcoe, citrusy hops, citrus zest and tingling spices and maybe some green peppercorns. Taste is dry through and through with nice fruit and citrus hop flavors. bitterness is mild. Very nice and balanced. Great!

Bottle:   Hazy golden, a little dirty and hazy, large frothy white head, sticky lacing.   Huge Guava aroma... dominates would be the right word.   Soft sweet hoppiness up front, also some minor immature Guava.   Not as sweet as I thought it would be, but then again that may be the hops.   Smells and tastes real, nothing artificial about this one.   Unique for sure!   Very smooth, some sweetness of the Guava that does balance well with the hop bitterness.   Yes, very well balanced.   This one is interesting, fruity with the Guava but also hoppy.   The more I drink this the more it grows on me.   Not overly sweet, yet not overly hoppy, with a nice immature Guava aroma and flavor.   This one really worked for me.   Thanks Kevin for this one!
