COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Freedom of ’78 is a medium bodied IPA with a wonderful, bright clarity and pleasing bronze hue. The aroma is a unique fusion of citrus fruit and subtle pine qualities. The distinct characteristics of the guava nectar are impossible to miss, and attributes of tangerine, nectarine, and even faint honey flavors are detectable. The finish quickly turns to an expected IPA bitterness that turns dry during prolonged tastings

(12oz bottle dated 11-24-10 thanks to Mora2000) clear rich gold/amber with soapy bubbles. Nose of guava, dank, tropical and oranges. Smells great. Taste of alcohol, spicy, a bit of rye, umami, and passionfruit with a spicy kick at the end. Prickly carbonation.

Draft. Strong pine aroma, nice hop and bitterness. All is good except for the finish which seemed a bit off / unpleasant.

12 oz. bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Pours a semi-cloudy orange-gold color with a small bone white head. Aroma explodes with guava, floral hops, herbs, lemongrass, pepper, pale malts, and coriander. Flavor of sweet and pale malts, guava, lemon, grassy hops, tea, and coriander. Light-medium bodied, with a floral, herbal mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really, really unique IPA- awesome. Could drink this all day.

4oz pour at Churchkey. Pours a clear, bright orange with a lacing white head. Nice hoppy, citrus aroma, grapefruit, zesty. Flavor is mostly hops, zesty citrus, the guava comes through on the end. Medium bodied, bitter finish. Lightly slick.

Tap at Churchkey for Shorts Tap Takeover. Pours a clear blonde with a large white head leaving excellent lace. Nose is pretty heavy phenols with citrus and melony hops- jackfruit and cantaloupe. Guava is really a muted fruit so instead I get things like lime honey, nectar, grapefruit, citrus acidity. Very nice stuff. Heavier, honey palate.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a clear golden color with a good white head and some nice rings of lacing on the way down. The nose powers through with a strong scent of guava along with some tropical fruits. A bit of mango and general fruity sweetness. Very interesting. The flavor doesn’t work quite as well, as the guava comes out of balance with the hops, though there’s still some citrus and mango in the background. The guava adds a bit of acidity, which is actually quite pleasing. Dry and bitter in the feel. A very solid effort. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 05-31-2011

(12oz bottle courtesy of rayl101!). Pours a hazy apricot color with a massive off-white head. This thing was almost a gusher. Nice, active carbonation. Aroma has a nice, bright citrusy guava nose with some mango and a little bit of wood. Taste is very bitter that is like a citrus peel. It’s also peppery and somewhat herbal. There isn’t a ton of sweetness from the malt, or its been over powered by the bitterness. Medium bodied with oily texture and dry, bitter finish. The herbal notes were a bit distracting, but otherwise a pretty good beer.
