Freedom of ’78 is a medium bodied IPA with a wonderful, bright clarity and pleasing bronze hue. The aroma is a unique fusion of citrus fruit and subtle pine qualities. The distinct characteristics of the guava nectar are impossible to miss, and attributes of tangerine, nectarine, and even faint honey flavors are detectable. The finish quickly turns to an expected IPA bitterness that turns dry during prolonged tastings

Draft at GABF. A knockout from Shorts. Pours a deep bronze with a nice fluffy head. Nose is intensely guava forward with a nice citrusy hop backing. Crisp and bright for sure. on tasting, the guava is strong but works really well with the hops. Light bready note and a dry finish. Fantastic stuff.

A: The beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with two fingers of white head. S: Smells quite a bit like guava, fortunately. Some citrus hops and other sweet fruits with a very strong perfume hop note. A mild sweetness of malt and a definite grapefruit and pine aroma. T: Very perfumey and floral on the palate as well. A moderate fruit/guava flavor, but a bit more towards the grapefruit zest side of things. Some sweet bread and toffee malts, as well. A moderate bitterness. M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. O: Still a nice fruit flavor to this with a nice citrus hop component.

(12oz bottle dated 11-24-10 thanks to Mora2000) clear rich gold/amber with soapy bubbles. Nose of guava, dank, tropical and oranges. Smells great. Taste of alcohol, spicy, a bit of rye, umami, and passionfruit with a spicy kick at the end. Prickly carbonation.

12 oz. bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Pours a semi-cloudy orange-gold color with a small bone white head. Aroma explodes with guava, floral hops, herbs, lemongrass, pepper, pale malts, and coriander. Flavor of sweet and pale malts, guava, lemon, grassy hops, tea, and coriander. Light-medium bodied, with a floral, herbal mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really, really unique IPA- awesome. Could drink this all day.

4oz pour at Churchkey. Pours a clear, bright orange with a lacing white head. Nice hoppy, citrus aroma, grapefruit, zesty. Flavor is mostly hops, zesty citrus, the guava comes through on the end. Medium bodied, bitter finish. Lightly slick.

Tap at Churchkey for Shorts Tap Takeover. Pours a clear blonde with a large white head leaving excellent lace. Nose is pretty heavy phenols with citrus and melony hops- jackfruit and cantaloupe. Guava is really a muted fruit so instead I get things like lime honey, nectar, grapefruit, citrus acidity. Very nice stuff. Heavier, honey palate.
