3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
20th February 2011
Hazy amber beer, little white head. Nice hops and guava nose. Crispy palate, dry. Bitterish hops - bitter orange marmalde that is wonderfully offset by good guava. Creamy malt base. Unapologetically bitter finish. Another cracking inventive beer from Shorts.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A: The beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with two fingers of white head.
S: Smells quite a bit like guava, fortunately. Some citrus hops and other sweet fruits with a very strong perfume hop note. A mild sweetness of malt and a definite grapefruit and pine aroma.
T: Very perfumey and floral on the palate as well. A moderate fruit/guava flavor, but a bit more towards the grapefruit zest side of things. Some sweet bread and toffee malts, as well. A moderate bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
O: Still a nice fruit flavor to this with a nice citrus hop component.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Slightly orange fruity coloured with loads of white foam that later leaves a lace trail. Very floral citrus hops, and the fresh guava. Still, smells like an IPA overall. Very smooth mouthfeel. the guava flavour is pronounced and dominates though it does not overpower, and is blended with hop oils. Very drinkable and a good one.Bottle from FlandersNed. This was cellared somewhat and would not be as appreciated by pure hopheads. Certainly reminds me of CC Guava Grove.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle... Pours clear and amber with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. The bouquet presents a truckload of citrusy hops blended with a tropical fruit and gourd medley - pumpkin and guava standout. Full-bodied with light, airy carbonation. The flavor is of medium-bitter citrusy hops with moderate acidity that is obviously fruit and/or hop-related and not a sign of infection. Solid malts, but they don’t contribute to the nose or flavor - only the body. Moderately astringent, mildly tart, lightly bitter finish that dries out nicely in the end. Bottle courtesy of FlandersNed!
