pour clear golden orange with a fluffy dense white head. Nose has pale malt, notes of grain transitioning to some sweet caramel as the hops fade in, rather floral and zesty with a tinge of citrus. The taste is a bit muddled compared to the well balanced nose. The malts seem messier and slightly toasted. There is a hint of biscuit mid palate with a sweet caramel playing in towards the back as the hops come in but less vibrant than the nose. Floral and herbal with strong bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is light on a heavy body not quite doing it as the finish feels short and syrupy.

12oz Bottles. Thanks Sean! Flowery fruity nose, distinctly American-hoppy and distinctly shorts. A signature blend so to speak. It shows up even more in the flavor of the beer, with the terse, biting C-hops reminding me of strong hoppy Shorts brews of years past. Clean, light, and focused on the pithy bitter. I think for a Session IPA, I’d still take a little more malt and a little pithy bitterness, but this is pretty nice overall.

Draft at One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale. Pours a golden amber color with a foamy white head that lingered a bit. Big hop aroma, no malt. Flowers, pine, spruce, grapefruit, and oranges. Taste starts with some fresh hops taste and then turns very bitter. Very little malt backbone. The hops have a very nice and somewhat complex flavor though. Finish is a tad dry and bitter. Overall it’s decent. Hop heads that love their beers bitter will probably like this.

Dry!! I don’t get sweet from this beer at all. Citrus & spruce come through in aroma and taste. Very light body as you might expect from a low alcohol brew. Low carbonation & straw colored pour. This brew is not as complex as other offerings from Short’s, but well balanced none the less. A pleasant hoppy IPA that will not fill you up.

12oz bottle from Portage MI megabev. Pale brown pour into shaker with trace white foam on top. Juicy grapefruit scent. Low carbonation. Strong bright grapefruit hoppiness, very crisp. Finish is all bitter and a bit salty. Super good light IPA.

Light citrus and cotton candy nose. Taste is rather dry, rather bitter, with lots of citrus- mostly grapefruit rind, lightly fruity/estery yeast. Decent.

Pours yellow with immense foaming head. A by-product from the foam is wafting hop scent. Significant IBU (that leaves its impact on the palate) and very good drinkability. Thanks FlandersNed.

Bottle. Pours a murky yellow-amber with a thick foamy white head that lasts forever. Hoppy, sweet aroma, with citrus, sugar, malt, and a bit of grass and pine. Taste is crisp and bitter, of citrus hops, wood, malt, preserved oranges. Lingering light bitterness. Very nice. It’s even aged well, considering this bottle was at least 6 months old.

This is a pale ale, not an IPA. Even so, the taste is a bit off for me. The floral notes are pleasing, but it goes downhill from there. The taste is biting and thin.
