COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anniversary Ale is a high-gravity wheat wine made with blood oranges. Flavors range from the spiciness of green peppercorns to the tang of blood orange zest. Aggressive dry hopping of Simcoe hops amplifies the citrus overtones and spiciness found throughout the beer. Anniversary Ale typifies Short’s Brewing Company by embodying all of the complexities that come along with another year of brewing.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a somewhat cloudy golden red with a very small off-white head. Aroma of citrus and spice. Taste is oranges, grapefruit, grain, and spice. Interesting.

Bottle shared by Willrunforbeer, much thanks. Copper color with thin whispy head. Aroma shows me citrus, pepper, rasins and pine like essence. The flavor is an odd concoction for orange liquour, zesty peppercorn and a slightly syrupy texture over the palate. The alcohol is hidden pretty well at 10%. Honestly after 6 oz. I had enough. Not undrinkable, just very odd.

12oz bottle from a trade with Umich03jm. Thanks, Jason! There’s no bottl date, but I know I’ve had this for a while. Pours copper gold with a grayish off white head. Aroma is toffee, molasses, wet cardboard, orange. Flavor is caramel, molasses, orange. A bit of pepper in the finish.

Tap. Lightly-hazy copper color. Orangey/hoppy nose. Big green peppercorn & orange rind flavor. A bit boozy. Full body & med-full carbonation.

Great extra from a trade. Light golden. Big aroma, juicy, orange juice, lemon, apple. A little sweet, a little citrus tartness. Doesn’t feel at all like a barleywine, the citrus throws me off. Once I got used to it I liked it.

Pour on tap at Beer Grotto, slightly hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of sweet orange, bread, pepper, some slight spice, hints of sweet sugar, slight white fruit. Taste was a mix of orange, sweet fruit, lemon, some bready, biscuit malt, touch of vanilla, slight spice, pepper, finishing fairly sweet.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange, small off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is oranges, pepper, honey, bready malt. Flavor is pretty sweet, and strongly bitter, orange zest, pepper, honey. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Definitely interesting, cant really say I enjoy it.

12 oz bottle shared by Spencer. 2015 vintage. The pour is a beautiful orangish gold with a thin ring of white head and no lace. The aroma is very peppery. There is a strong booziness ahead of a distinct blood orange. Pretty good, but really peppery. The flavor is really good. Lots of blood oranges and hops. There isn't a lot of pepper, which I like. The mouth feel is a little thin and light, but it's pretty good. There is a light carbonation. The aftertaste is lingeringly fruity with a touch of pepper. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
