4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 Bottle. This is slightly less blood orange focused that some of the older versions I've had, however still quite good. Has strong orange zest flavor with grapefruit flavored hops (Amarillo?). Tastes sweet and smooth, with a nice crispness and booziness.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the more interesting wheat wines I’ve ever had. Pours burnt orange with a white head that disappeared quickly. Smell is tangerine peal and orange. Taste is like eating a blood orange, peal and all. I think it might be better if the orange zest was toned down a little, but I still enjoyed this.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This bottled brew from rbsg #45 poured a small sized head of frothy medium sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a semi-opaque dark ruby red brown colored body. The strong aroma was old ale hoppy malty and vinous. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of old ale vinous and malt.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled 4/20/2012. Pours hazy reddish orange color with a small 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lacing cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of huge orange, orange zest, orange rind, grapefruit, peppercorn, caramel, coriander, bread, floral, grass, earth, and herbal. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity; with a huge citrus presence as expected. Taste of big orange, orange zest, caramel, grapefruit, orange rind, coriander, peppercorn, floral, grass, earth, and herbal. Light citrus rind tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of orange, citrus rind, grapefruit, peppercorn, coriander, caramel, toast, floral, earth, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic citrus and peppery flavor balance with nice complexity; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent wheatwine! Great flavor complexity and balance; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
1st January 2011
Hazy deep red beer. Short lived tan head. Pleasant nose of fresh hops and citrus. Smooth palate, dry with moderate carbonation. Fresh hops seamlessly integrated with bitter blood orange. Dry peppery finish. A tad dry but another fantastically imaginative beer from Shorts.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On draft at Churchkey in D.C.
The beer is ruby hued and transparent, with 1/4" head and decent lacing. The aroma is primarily of hops, with a present alcohol sweetness. The flavor starts out well, with hops in the driver seat, masking the alcohol for the most part. Unfortunately, the finish brings an oddness and harshness that negatively impacts my enjoyment to a great degree. The sweetness mounts rapidly, and I could see this beer becoming cloying quickly. A couple of ounces was more than enough for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a clear copper orange/red with a tiny ring of white head. Aroma of floral, hay, herbs, pepper, coriander, citrus. Flavour of wheat, lots of cracked pepper (nicely blended in), coriander seed, bitter citrus flavours. Not the beer I expected. An interested combination of flavours which surprisingly appear to compliment one another. Medium bodied, but quite harsh too from the orange peel. Not sure I would enjoy drinking a large amount of this beer. Interesting nonetheless.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a clear ruby red with a small ring of white head. Nose brings the peppercorns upfront, with a huge body of juicy oranges and a sprinkle of coriander. Flavour is very similar, bringing out the peppercorns initially, followed by a huge backbone of juicy oranges and some moderate coriander notes. Finishes spicy (from both the peppercorns and coriander) and very juicy. Fairly light-bodied considering the ABV and style. Fun beer, though nothing overly deep and satisfying.

Amber with no head. Much orange in the nose with some tartness. Flavor is strange, tart with orange. Decent palate. I just didn’t dig this.
