3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
$2 bottle poured into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint".
Appearance: Pours a sunset sort of orange color with about a finger of a white head, that dies down pretty quickly. Decent bit of carbonation coming from the bottom of the glass. Quite significant alcohol legs.
Smell: Grapefruit, orange, and mango dominate the aroma... very fresh smell. Pleasant and inviting.
Taste: Interesting ... Iíve never had a Wheatwine, so I didnít know what to expect. This is very distinctive. The peppery note coats the mouth but isnít too pungent, and thereís also a citrus flavor with quite a sour quality, which Iíd assume is the yeast used in this beer. The aftertaste is heavy on the wheat, with almost a briny flavor as well... Summit hops? A strange mix, but itís manageable. Peppery, sour orange juice brine is the essential flavor here, with a wheaty, minorly burning finish. The feel is surprisingly light, as I was expecting a thicker beer. Iím glad itís not too thick though, as this beer could easily become cloying if that were the case. The aftertaste is probably my favorite part about Anniversary Ale. Love the wheat, orange, pepper flavor.
This just isnít quite my style. Itís not bad by any means, though. In fact, Iíd consider it to be a VERY GOOD beer just because I never thought "Peppery, sour orange juice brine" would be an appealing flavor. Definitely glad to have tried this, and itís a unique beer, but Iíd not have it often.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 bottle, drank slightly below room temp. Whiskey like color with almost no head. Scent is orange and alcohol. Taste is similar, very heavy on orange, but also with some pepper, booze noticeable but certainly not in a bad way. Pretty good one to sip on.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Holy shit, this stuff is dank. Smells like the orange glo stuff you mop the floor with, but nicer. This is a high gravity beer that you can enjoy on the hottest of days along the banks of the Detroit River. Man, do I love me some shorts.
Wow, cant believe this is almost 12% ABV. Really hides it well. Good mix of ctrus, malt, and hops. Well balanced. Suiiy is jealous.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I am very leery of any fruit in beer, but I love this stuff! The blood orange pops out on the palate, but quickly fades. Then the peppercorn very subtly tingles the palate; it, too, is not overdone. Doesnít taste like any barleywine I have had . . . doesnít taste like any other beer I have had.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the more interesting wheat wines Iíve ever had. Pours burnt orange with a white head that disappeared quickly. Smell is tangerine peal and orange. Taste is like eating a blood orange, peal and all. I think it might be better if the orange zest was toned down a little, but I still enjoyed this.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This bottle somehow got lost in the garage in hot Florida last year but it fared well anyway. Nice beer, blood oranges have faded (as of Jan12) as well as the spices but still noticeable and well-balanced. Alcohol was well-hidden. Blood oranges make it a bit sharp.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head. Heavy citrus aroma with some faint spices. Tastes like a weak screwdriver with some malts and hops mixed in. Very tangy finish with some lingering spices. Syrupy texture with average carbonation. The alcohol is hidden well in the flavor but there is some burn going down the pipes. Different for sure. Not something I would drink regularly but worth a try.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours a hazy and sediment-filled amber. No head, minimal lacing. Tons of orange on the nose, with a hint of pepper. Bittersweet orange is the first thing on the tongue, immidiately followed by the spice from those green peppercorns. This is a fail. Not digging this at all. Itís like peppery, stale, uncarbonated fruit juice.
