Pours a hazy and sediment-filled amber. No head, minimal lacing. Tons of orange on the nose, with a hint of pepper. Bittersweet orange is the first thing on the tongue, immidiately followed by the spice from those green peppercorns. This is a fail. Not digging this at all. Itís like peppery, stale, uncarbonated fruit juice.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2010 the first time i rated this i couldnít really remember it due to being too drunk when i had it. i revisited it tonight, and am lowering my rating very slightly... nice orange droplets at the very end of the pour, tons of floaties. big time citrus flavor going on. unique, as most shortís brews tend to be. worth a try, not there are better barley or wheat wines out there.

Tastes very sharp. I like it. This would be good with with a cheesecake. Nutmeg like a mug with peppercorns.

Beautiful color and a pleasant sour note, but otherwise dreadful. Harsh and medicinal. Once again shorts went heavy handed with the peppercorns probably. I do not know how they achieved such a harsh brew really.

One of the more interesting wheat wines Iíve ever had. Pours burnt orange with a white head that disappeared quickly. Smell is tangerine peal and orange. Taste is like eating a blood orange, peal and all. I think it might be better if the orange zest was toned down a little, but I still enjoyed this.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 Bottle. This is slightly less blood orange focused that some of the older versions I've had, however still quite good. Has strong orange zest flavor with grapefruit flavored hops (Amarillo?). Tastes sweet and smooth, with a nice crispness and booziness.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange color with an off-white head. Fruity aroma with notes of citrus and spice.Flavors of citrus, tangerine, spice and wheat. The finish is fruity with a lightly zesty citrus aftertaste. Nice

No mistaking the orange smell. And big orange taste too. Very tart to almost grapefruit lengths.

Oh, what a nose! Blood oranges all over the place both in the nose and the color which is amber with a litlte orange twist. LIttle to no foaming at all.
There is an unfortunate sort of maybe hoppy edge. I canít put my finger on what else it might be. Iíve had blood orange juice and oranges before so I know the flavor and that isnít exactly what this is. Maybe just the alcohol which in that case will be nice to age out of this one. The above comments came from drinking it very cold.
Now then, letting it warm , the flavors come out nicely although still a bit boozey. Mouthfeel is sublime and it is what it is described as...wheat wine with slight blood orange inclusion.
