3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of grapefruit, as well as medium notes of hops. THe flavor is sweet - yet with an acidity from the strong notes of grapefruit, combining with medium notes of hops, leading to an acidic finish, where the alcohol burns in the throat.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by Alexsdad06. Poured a cloudy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good to excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hoppy and woody aroma with a small alcohol tone. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle acquired in trade with hoppymeal (thanks!!). Tasted side by side by side (Original , Dry hop, & Grapefruit versions). Poured a medium and hazy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, citrus, caramel, vanilla, some wood, and pine. Tastes of citrus rinds, grapefruit, caramel, wood, and vanilla. This one was definitely more ícitrusyí than the other 2 and was more balanced. Again the barrel aging was done very nicely. Shorts kicks ass again!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle sampled on 10/13/07: Transparent bronze golden with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of slightly soapy floral notes and big citrusy grapefruit and oranges with a touch of sweet caramel. Body starts fairly full and slightly sweet with big grapefruity hoppiness drying toward a more bitter citric finish. An interesting brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Barely any head on top of the dark copper body. The aroma was definite grapefruit with some fresh bread. Lots of alcohol in the nose. The taste was grapefruit with bread crust. A little bit of soap comes through in the tangy finish. Good stuff, I am surprised this flavor combo hadnít been tried before.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: Pours a clear, amberish body that lacks any sort of head.
Smell: Flowery, fresh grapefruit aroma good enough to be a candle scent. Get on that, Yankee Candle Co.
Taste: Hmm, well thatís different. Toasted bread crumbs. Not much in the way of sweetness. A mouthful of fresh flowers. Great juicy grapefruit taste. Moderate bitterness grows to a citrusy, powerfully citric finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability: That is one interesting beer. My favorite of these three Shortís Anniversary Ale (Part Deux) Beers.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle from Sarcastro on BA - thanks!!! Wow, what an aroma. As soon as the cap is off there are soft ruby red scents everywhere. I mean even when my nose is almost 2 feet from the beer it’s there, floral and pungent. Awesome. The pour is a bit thinner than you might like, given the style, and I’d have to say the same for the mouthfeel. But whoa, what flavors. There’s certainly some bourbon-barrel in there, but it’s soooo subtle that it almost entirely meshes with the grapefruit. That’s just so damn odd, but somehow it works. And oh yeah, there are some wonderful hops in here too, making it a solid IIPA with a very memorable additional set of qualities. I tell you, Shorts is out there and I dig it mightily.
