Very dark amber to brown pour with half inch khaki brown head. Pungent malt and citrus hop aroma, a bit light. Light foamy mouthfeel. A little oily. Bitter, slightly dry finish. Taste of lots of pine and floral hops mixed with lots of caramel and smokey malt. Great robust flavor, a keeper for sure.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 574deadzone (538) - North Central, Indiana, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Pours a deep ruby-amber with a thinner beige-khaki head that settles slowly, leaving fine spotty lace. Nose involves deep toffee notes, pungent spicy hops along with notes of pine, dashes of cocoa, a little candied orange. The combined aroma produces almost a savory note, with some hearty yeast. Taste is very sweet with plenty of bitterness to balance. Heavier bodied, somewhat syrupy, softer carb, with a long piney bitter finish. A well constructed imperial red, sweet but not cloying, nice complimentary hop notes, and appropriate body.

12oz bottle from Timbo
Appearance: Pours clear dark ruby with a small off-white head, good lacing
Aroma: Sweet caramel, toasted malts, nutty and pine
Taste: Caramel, pine, earthy, metallic with a bitter grapefruit peel finish
Can’t say I liked this one, sweet up front but finishes harsh and bitter.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle:   Deep red, large frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Musty hop aroma, dusty and dank, otherwise some citrus peel.   Strong biscuity malts up front, big citrus peel, warming but not alcoholic.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A little rough on the finish, hops are a bit stale and dusty, leaving some strong white pithy bits.   Not bad, but too green or rough.
