3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beerlando (3276) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 17, 2009
Courtesy GoT via northernbrews. Pours a dark, reddish crimson color with a small, foamy, cream colored head. Sticky, patchy rings of lacing circle the glass. The nose is massively hoppy, even at this age, with big pine resin and grapefruit bitterness countering the underlying caramel and earthy fruit malts. There’s some spicy yeast notes in there, as well as a hint of nuttiness. Flavors follow suit, bitter and resinous but sufficiently balanced by toasty sweet caramel and dark fruit. The body is lightly syrupy, but smooth and well carbonated. Finishes with pine and lingering toast. Good brew.

Thanks to Northernbrews for the hookup. Jeff, you’re the man. Pours a clean reddish bronze. Aroma is caramel sweetness and pine. Flavors follow, with a good amount of sweetness with a bitter punch. Finish lingers for a while. Pretty good.

Aromas of caramel, some dark fruits, a little earthy, and citrus. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, toffee, and some citrus. On the sweeter side. Creamy body.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish amber color with a medium off white head. The aroma has a big malt presence, caramel, citrus hops, fruits, and a touch of pine. The flavor is a battle between the big caramel malts and the citrus and pine hops fighting to see which one will dominate. The fruitiness in the nose is not transferred to the flavor. I think all of the Shorts beers are at least interesting enough to try once. This one would be good again except for the obvious reasons.
