COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
• Modest essential benevolence of humanity
• Beer Type: Double Red Ale

Aorta Ale is a double red ale that indicates an intensity of flavor simply by its dark reddish-brown appearance. Subtle aromas of candy, brown sugar, and toasted malt are released from the depths of this full bodied beast. Raisins, figs, and burnt caramel are among the sweeter and more forward flavors. It finishes with a roasted cocoa like bitterness, which is magnified by the high alpha hops.

Draft at central city tap house Kzoo. Nice softer fruity hop aroma. Hazy dark red body with smooth tight bubble off white head? Not much lace. Really strong brew with plenty of alcohol and sweetness. Excellent American strong. A little early in the day for this one. Excellent. I continue to be impressed with Shorts

Bottle thanks to FlandersNed. Deep amber/red/brown with thick foamy off-white head. Light grapefruit hops, toasted malt and faint sugary caramel malt. Flavor is initially sticky toasted malt and light fruitiness which gives way to moderate to solid grapefruit hop bitterness. Semi-dry and wood-like finish. Some lingering toasted malt and fruit as well. Lightly creamy mouthfeel. All around solid.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Steve, Pours a deep red color with a medium tan head. The aroma is rich musty malts. A sweet dry caramel flavor with- actually yes, this tastes a bit like blood, maybe I’m being affected by the name, but really there is metallic bitterness- hops and a odd metal and vegetal flavor. Interesting.

Bit of a disappointment from a brewery that I’ve come to really enjoy. Traditionally, they display uniqueness and bold flavors. This one seemed very vanilla and somewhat muddled. Bright crimson, ruby, and scarlet hues with a puffy eggshell head. Aroma and flavor show subtle caramel, toffee, and brown sugar with slight citrus from the hop additions. Somewhat flat and uninteresting.

Thick red ale with chewy, caramel notes and a crisp finish. This defines the image of a double red. - 2012

12 oz bottle: Aroma has got a nice big upfront hop scent, citrus, grapefruit, and a very light malt backing with just a touch of a caramel malt. Appearance is a light brown very carbonated with a thick slightly tan head that lingers. Taste has got good balance and has got that Irish Red malt characteristic as well, but just a hopped up version. Palate is carbonated on the tongue and just a tinge of hop and caramel malt in the aftertaste. Overall, Very nice. I really nice most of the Shorts Brewing selection. Cheers!

12oz bottle from Mikem409. Pours clear dark ruby amber with big thick light tan head. Aromas of citrus, pine, toasted malts, some hops, and berries. Flavors of toasted malts, bitter hops, some fruit, and pine. Finishes with nice amount of bitterness. Kind of one dimensional with all of the bitterness, but decent and drinkable.

Bottle sampled, this beer had a clear red-ruby pour and made a two to three finger off-white head, there was medium effervescence or so, this beer left spots and small fingers of lacing on the glass, and I found no sediment in the bottle, there were aromas of toasted malt, some citrus and pine hops, caramel, faint chocolate in the background with some caramel and brown sugar sweetness, the flavors of this beer were toasted malt with some caramel and chocolate (chocolate was in the background), some pine hops with a little grapefruit citrus, a little brown sugar like sweetness, there was some hop bitterness after the finish, that continued on the palate for a bit, the mouth feel was medium or a bit more, and had some creaminess on the palate, this ale was a nice drinking beer, I found the flavor to be a little bigger than the nose, there were more hops in this beer than what I expected, and the hops kept the palate bitter.

Bottle: The aroma consists of pine, light fruit, and caramel. It pours a dark copper that becomes a mostly transparent amber when held to the light. It has a two finger off-white head that has good retention and leaves lots of webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts malty with caramel, raisin, and brown sugar. The finish has moderate piney hops and some faint toasty notes. The piney bitterness really lingers in the aftertaste. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and somewhat soft mouthfeel.
