COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Autumn Ale is a true-to-style London Extra Special Bitter (ESB). It has a medium body, amber color, and full flavor. This beer exhibits a wonderful balance of malty sweetness and floral hop bitterness. The result is an ideal bridge between malty and hoppy beer styles. Autumn Ale is a silver medal winner from the 2006 Great American Beer Festival.

Probably my favorite of the Shorts line-up and one of the best amber ales brewed in Michigan. Nice chewy color with a solid craggy head. Maltiness, nuts, and a little tinge of hop in the aroma. Great mouthfeel, this is one thirst quenching beer. It really does capture the spirit of season.

12 oz bottle (also draft at Shorts) from notes. Pours a clear orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, some fruity character, mild floral notes, hint of earth, mild to moderate bitterness, one of the least memorable Shorts beers.

Nice amber color with a citrus smell. The beer has a good flower with a little bit of a bitter after taste like in the name.

Different Label (than pictured) with the whole of Michigan as two leaves in some water. Nice look with a very hazy brown and super copper coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of toffee, metal, earth and alcohol - quite pungent. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with a good caramel flavour, some bitter earthy hops along with a light metallic flavour and some subdued raisin and grape flavours at the end. Aftertaste shows a touch of a smoked peat flavour coupled with a lot of malt and metal and some light hops as well, but the caramel is by far the strongest with toffee alongside. Overall, a good beer for the style, complete with a nice profile, some light complexity, and just overall good flavour for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased for US$1,99 at Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 sampled at home in Washington on 08-November-2015.

Malty and sweet caramel aroma. Cloudy rusty pour with a white head that leaves adequate lacing. Taste is very smooth. Malty and slightly sweet. Drinkable. This is a wonderful beer. Lives up to its name. Great for the cooler months. Will Get again.

Beautiful autumn beer! A crisp and perfectly balanced ESB. Aroma: malty with a hint of earthy, piney hops Appearance: bronze, very slight haze Taste: perfect balance of the right hops and the right toasty, caramely malts. Not too bitter, very smooth. Palate: medium-light with a dry finish. Mellow after taste that makes you want more. Perfectly crisp, balanced beer for a crisp, cool Michigan autumn afternoon!

355ml bottle. Amber pour. Herbal and breadcrusty aroma, flavor is herbal and caramally, breadcrust. Baseline, doesn’t really seem like an ESB.

Okay aroma. Solid appearance. Taste is good, but nothing special. It hits the palate well. I give it a 50.

Bottle: Poured an burnt orange with heavy sediment, head was thin off white. Aroma is heavy on malts and sweet. Taste is light bitterness, leafy, malts. Numb feeling on my tongue finish.

Super thin head on top of a super clear red pour. Aroma is full of caramel. Light mouth. Taste is caramel and a little grain. Strong finish that is almost spicy. Not overly flavorful. No lace.
