COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bananas and Blow Creme Ale is a hybrid between a hefeweizen and a porter, just like a chocolate-covered banana added to your favorite wheat beer. Over 200 lbs. of fresh banana puree is fermented with hefeweizen yeast and blended with an American lager that is brewed with 100 lbs. of cocoa. The result is a rich and smooth crème ale.

Draft 4/24/10 DLD (Courtesy of FlanderNed)-Pours a dark amber with a small head. Aroma of banana and porter. Taste is sour. This light bodied brew is probably the worst I have had from Shorts bt still rather interesting.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2011 Had a glass from a growler thanks to Sean. Poured a light brown with a small grayish brown head. Aroma reminded me of smelling a darker banana bread. Flavor begins with a dark grain note but a really nice banana flavor grows and it balances perfectly with the grains.

Handbottle, thanks Sean! Pours a murky dark brown, a touch ruddy, and with a soapy off-white head. Flavors are peculiar to say the least, with a strong planty, vegetal character that elicits green maple stems, banana skins, and marijuana seeds. I think some pithy chocolate alkaloids and some distinct sourness. This is an oddball for sure and something I’m really glad I got to try. Palate is balanced. I think the cocoa-powder character is interesting, but bananas should probably never be put in a beer ever again.

cloudy brown with white head. aroma of banana, coffee and chocolate..flavor of over-ripe banana, cocoa, milk, and chocolate... very refreshing and interesting, albeit one-dimensional
