2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dimenhetfield (1663) - , Florida, USA - FEB 10, 2012
12oz bottle poured into glass. Brown color with a bubbly white head. Something seems off here, both in the aroma and flavor. Possibly a little bit of an infection. Slight tang to it with hints of malts. Not really my cup of tea.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 hopscotch (7289) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 17, 2012
Bottle… Clear deep copper ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head that never fully dissipates. The bouquet furnishes toasted malts and roasted nuts (pistachios and almonds) with a hint of cocoa. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. The flavor is perfectly balanced, but bland and mostly nondescript save for just a rumor of acidity. Finishes short, crisp and mostly clean.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jimmay (705) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 12, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a ruby tinge. Smallish off white head, tonnes of lacing. Aroma and taste of highly leaning to sweet and slightly funky. Not bad.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 cakanator (440) - South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 11, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours out a decent light brown hue, off white head, little carbonation however. Aromas are fairly light, a bit malty and roasted. Palate follows with a light malty cocoa up front, but then thins out too much with little to no hop presence. Overall not offensive, but kinda bland.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ngeunit1 (589) - Mountain View, California, USA - JAN 10, 2012
A - Pours a brown color with a touch of ruby that is just slightly clear around the edges. A thin finger of frothy off-white head forms atop and fades fairly quickly.
S - Aroma is a mix of rich sweet roasted caramel malts with a bit of chocolate, earthy hop, nuttiness, and molasses.
T - Starts off with some rich sweet roasted caramel malt with some earthy hop and a touch of nutty flavor. Through the middle the chocolate malt and molasses flavors come through. The finish is a mix of sweet caramel, chocolate, earthy flavors, and some molasses.
M - Medium bodied with mild tingling carbonation. The beer feels smooth with a sweet and lightly syrupy finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice rich and sweet malt profile that avoids becoming cloying. The molasses flavor and feeling linger for quite a bit afterwards.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beermaven (7) - Michigan, USA - JAN 10, 2012 does not count
This is one of my favorites. Medium brown color and with a sweet maltyness taste with a bit of bitterness. It is a bit on the sweeter side with a bitter burnt maltyness. If you like sweet but a little bitter you will like this.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ClubGonzo (1736) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 6, 2012
Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany brown body with a small white head. Aroma is near-tart dark malty tones (sounds like a contradiction, but that’s what it smells like) with hints of caramel, oak and burnt sugar. Taste is nuts, caramel and hints of tart acidic tones which now appear to be of a yeasty character. A bit strange, but OK.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Beaver (874) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 28, 2011
12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet roasted malts and chocolate with some molasses.
The flavor is very sweet and sugary malts, molasses, nutty chocolates and some slightly tart fruitiness. The mouthfeel is light bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, too sweet and thin. An OK brown.
