3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from Kalamazoo megabev. Pour is dark black with brown hue. Offwhite cola like head is a half inch thick. Intense floral hop scent, maybe a bit reminiscent of citrus as well. Taste is really unique. Thick and chalky mouth feel. Bitter with hops at first, accompanied by a taste I can describe no other way than wheaty. Roasted malt finish that's a little bitter and slightly chocolatey.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a very dark brown color with a perfect 1 cm head that lingers a bit. Aroma is very floral with pine and roasted malt. Taste is the same. Fresh flowers, light roasted malt, light chocolate, bitter finish. Thin body allows for easy drinking. A very solid Black IPA but I’ve had a few better.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour with a tan head. Some floral hops and roast in the nose with a similar taste, perhaps a little spruce and citrus along with it. Pretty damn tasty.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with a think tan head. Aroma hints of roasty malt and chocolate, with loads of fruity hops and some pine. Flavor is upfront roasty, semi-sweet malt quickly overcome by strong, varied hop flavors (fruit, pine) with a lingering bitterness. This is an exceptional dark IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer is near black with a finger of thick, beige head. Plenty of lacing cascades down the walls of the pint glass.
Great aroma with pine, malt, roast, hops.
Nice flavor as well. Surprisingly good. I just never know what to expect from Short’s. The roast and hop components are blended beautifully.
Lingering pleasant hop bitterness in the finish. Thin to medium bodied. Nice feel.
A stellar example of the style. I would definitely have this again. Recommended.

Shared by someone at the Monte’s Krown tasting yesterday. Pours a thin black with an almost white head. Citrus hops in the nose, very perfume like. Taste follows suit with bittering hops and some roast. A solid brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A - Pours a dark black color with some brown mixed in and a finger of frothy khaki colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is bursting with citrus and earthy hops with some roasted and lightly burnt malts and some smoke.
T - Starts off with a nice kick of citrus hops with some grapefruit flavor and some bitterness alongside some roasted caramel malts and a hint of smoke. Through the middle, some more earthy hops come through with more citrus flavor as well and some stronger bitterness. The finish continues the big hop trend with some stronger earthy hops, plenty of bitterness, with some smoky and burnt malts.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a bit bitter and dry finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really big hop flavor that is a bit unbalanced, but I really find myself enjoying the boldness of it.
