COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bludgeon Yer Eye is an India Black Ale. Intense fruity and floral aromas, along with a subtle malty fragrance, emits from the beer. The deep black color complements the rich, dark roasted malt flavors. The unexpected twist comes when the high hop bitterness takes over and leaves a bitter finish.

Bottle courtesy of Mike. Thanks Mike! Pours deep dark and murky with a full light khaki head. Nose is fully roasted with a really nice grassy note to it. Flavor is different but in a good way. Fresh grass and dark malts throughout. Really enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a muddy black with a thin beige head. Aroma is very piney with no real malt aroma detected. Taste is big and bold, almost all hops here. Small amount of lacing left on the glass. Palate is long that finishes bitter. Overall this beer is the best black ipa I’ve had so far. The next one has a lot to live up to.

12oz bottle from Kalamazoo megabev. Pour is dark black with brown hue. Offwhite cola like head is a half inch thick. Intense floral hop scent, maybe a bit reminiscent of citrus as well. Taste is really unique. Thick and chalky mouth feel. Bitter with hops at first, accompanied by a taste I can describe no other way than wheaty. Roasted malt finish that's a little bitter and slightly chocolatey. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a very dark brown color with a perfect 1 cm head that lingers a bit. Aroma is very floral with pine and roasted malt. Taste is the same. Fresh flowers, light roasted malt, light chocolate, bitter finish. Thin body allows for easy drinking. A very solid Black IPA but I’ve had a few better.

Black pour with a tan head. Some floral hops and roast in the nose with a similar taste, perhaps a little spruce and citrus along with it. Pretty damn tasty.

Pours dark brown with a think tan head. Aroma hints of roasty malt and chocolate, with loads of fruity hops and some pine. Flavor is upfront roasty, semi-sweet malt quickly overcome by strong, varied hop flavors (fruit, pine) with a lingering bitterness. This is an exceptional dark IPA.

Bottle. Pours dark brown white head but was gone too fast. Big floral hop aroma. Taste is massive ibu shorts yeast and slight roast

The beer is near black with a finger of thick, beige head. Plenty of lacing cascades down the walls of the pint glass. Great aroma with pine, malt, roast, hops. Nice flavor as well. Surprisingly good. I just never know what to expect from Short’s. The roast and hop components are blended beautifully. Lingering pleasant hop bitterness in the finish. Thin to medium bodied. Nice feel. A stellar example of the style. I would definitely have this again. Recommended. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-01-2011

Shared by someone at the Monte’s Krown tasting yesterday. Pours a thin black with an almost white head. Citrus hops in the nose, very perfume like. Taste follows suit with bittering hops and some roast. A solid brew.

Bottle: Had this at the end of last summer during a vacation in the upper portion of LP of Michigan. I remember it being very good.
